Who here is a Kimber 1911 fan?

That's a pretty crazy story! That's why I love the internet...I'm always reading stuff that reminds me why carrying a gun is so important. There are so many people on this earth, and a lot of them are guiltless psychopaths. You never know when one of them is coming your way. I think it's only a matter of time before I experience something crazy like that. At least I'll be ready!

Anyways, thanks for the reminder! Stay safe!
Yeah, that story was one of the catlysts for getting me into handguns and getting a CCW permit. If that had happened at my law firm at the time, all I could have done was hide under my desk hoping I wouldn't be found.

What a pathetic way to go! Hiding under a desk. Not for me.

So if a gunman attacks me at work or at home now, he may kill me. But he won't shoot me while I'm cowering under a desk or in a corner somewhere.

The thumb-safety broke in half on my classic series 1, I sent it back to kimber and they replaced it with a safety that had a crappy finish, and the positive "snap" that it once had is now gone. I guess I'll have to find a gunsmith to make it back like it was before.

kimber ownership

I have 5 kimbers, combat carry, raptor 2,grand raptor 2 ,classic stainless target, and pro sis ,great guns adopted by our U.S.. shooting team ,Los A ngeles special investigative squad and Us. marines special unit, what 1911 company out there can compare to that, they are tack drivers and still the best value for the money, There customer service is great and they will make it right on most problems. All mine can shoot the center target out on 20 yards.I do realize that Ed brown,Les bauer make a fantastic 1911 but I can not afford 2000 plus dollars, those that can god bless you, and keep you powder dry .Marc

I love mine, Unfortunatly I just had to sell a Custom Eclipse Target, to pay bills. But my main carry piece a Custom CDP Pro, works great. I replaced the plastic MSH with an Ed Brown Snakeskin, switched to Wolf XP springs (good for all 3-4" 1911's) and I've been running Kimber pro tac mags. It shoots flawless. As far as the comment about break in. I would NEVER carry any semi auto pistol without putting at least 300 rounds thru it and I don't know anyone else who depends on a pistol for defense who would either.

Mine is not "iffy". I don't know about yours. Have they had their share of problems? Yes. Do they put out some really great guns? Yes.

What's the point here?

The bold is mine for emphasis.
The point is very simple actually. For the money spent, there are many better choices than a Kimber, especially if you do your research. Get it? Got it!;)

The .45's shoot great, but I'll tell ya, their 1911 .22 is a jam-o-matic for me with any ammo. Talk about a tight chamber, it almost NEVER fully cycles, always staying about 1/4" out of battery. I figured it would break in...nope. I guess it's getting sent in.

I would not buy another Kimber simply because of their poor customer service. These folks pale by comparison to Smith & Wesson and Springfield Arms.

I am the Proud owner of a "Series One" Classic Custom. I currently have a couple of Colt Series 70's and a SA Loaded.

I also have had other 1911's that I traded or sold, but the Kimber is the most accurate and has the best Trigger of the bunch.

For the fit, finish, accuracy and price (about $600 in 1998) I don't think there's ever been a better production 1911 made than "Series One" Kimbers.
