My biggest concern with using my AK as a defensive weapon is the chances of the round penetrating the aggressor and going through 4-6 walls and hitting someone else.

It's not about just that, it's also about a missed shot that goes thru drywall. I don't need to see it to know that a round will go thru a wall and still have enough power left over to hit a unintended target.I've never seen one exit a deer, or a human for that matter.

Not for me it isn't, and it isn't for others in a suburban/urban setting either. Of course you should be aware of your target and background, that's basic. The problem comes when things in a panicked SD situation don't go exactly as planned. I'll stick to #4 buck for HD. (If TS ever does HTF, I do know my WASR is reliable enough.)The answer is to be sure of your aim and back ground before you fire.
