A few years back finally got to see him. It was a complete joke, he played for awhile then ranted & raved about his agenda and insulted half the audience with his opinionated garbage.
I saw him a few years back opening for ZZ Top. He ranted endlessly about 'buy American' and such.......over a microphone & PA system made in China. Yes, his guitar was made in America, but I doubt much else on the stage was.
I enjoyed the Amboy Dukes when I was a teen, Nugent alone never did it for me though.
As for guns and Nugent? He doesn't represent me. My idea of hunting is not buying a big game preserve, sitting watching TV in a comfy treehouse 20 yards from a feeder and water trough; "Just let me know when the deer comes by to eat, maybe I'll shoot him if the camera is running". Yes, I watched 'Spirit Of The Wild' last night....mostly for Shemane Nugent. But Ted can shoot a bow...I'll grant that.
I'm confused with folks saying what a druggie he was. Although Ted does get confusing when he talks. On his VH1 bio-doc, he claimed to have never done drugs, nor even to have known that 'Journey To The Center Of The Mind' was about drugs. He also claimed to not drink back then also....but. Now, since the 90s he proclaims his anti-drug and anti-alcohol position. He was a spokesman for DARE, advocating the "natural highs" to be found in an outdoor lifestyle.
But over the years he has said so many conflicting things about what he did do, didn't do, believed,, etc......I've lost track.
He's a celebrity, he'll do and say whatever it takes to keep him in the limelight.
BTW: He's looks really old and worn-out with that beard. He looks 10 years younger without it (well, he can keep his 'soul patch').
