You guys warned me. You told me not to do it. I said I knew what I was doing, that I could handle it. It was fine at first and then it just got out of control. I told myself I can quit anytime I want, I told myself I don't need more. What a slippery slope I've went down. I don't even know who I am anymore. They say admitting your problem is the first step to recovery so here goes....Hi, I'm uspJ and I'm addicted to ESEE Knives.

It gets worse. I don't think there is a cure. You know your hit bottom when you carve your Thanksgiving turkey with a custom San Mai or Damascus recurve/tanto/short sword & then have to buy a new gun safe cause there is not enough room for both. Oh well. Enjoy.

Just buy a nice raincoat and sew about a hundred small pockets through the inside and you can go to parking lots and stuff, pulling open your coat to show your wares for sale.

In 1974, I bought a watch in Northern Italy that way!
What I thought was an Omega watch for $20. was really a piece of junk made in soviet Russia (probably worth about fifty cents).

I see there are a few more that you haven't gotten yet. Enjoy. It gets better or worse depending on your point of view.

Hi uspJ. Psst after the meeting you want to go look at some knives

[Rubs hands together eagerly] Can we!?

How do you like that H.E.S.T.?

I like it. To be honest I got the H.E.S.T. for two reasons. I really liked the prybar pommel feature since it saves me from having to use the blade in such a fashion, and it just looked cool.

My only real gripe is the sheath it didn't offer enough retention so I tightened it with a heat gun and it still didn't have enough, I then added one of the rubber washers provided with the molle locks on each side at the mouth of the sheath and it helped some but not enough for my taste. I heated it again and got it super snug, now its very tight to draw and re-sheath which is better than losing your knife. I added the belt clip from one of my 3-mils to it and drilled an extra hole to attach a carabiner or fire rod.

Yeah I'm planning on an izula two in the next week or so. I'm trying to talk myself out of a ESEE 4 with sharpened back edge or another 3 model since I don't have one with the sharpened back edge. I don't really lust for the larger ones except for a junglas. The 3 model is about the perfect size for everything I use it for. I'll probably get the others as well...no sense lying to myself. I seen it described on the ESEE forum as being sick in a good way. Man, what have I gotten myself into:confused:

Here's a pic of the H.E.S.T. and the "uspJ deluxe custom never lose your knife ever!" sheath.

I like the ESEE 4 in terms of size and balance. I'm fairly new to ESEE knives myself. I've fondled them for a number of years and finally chose what I thought was a good balance between size and weight. I'm happy, but not a ESEE or RAT addict.

I've just recently jumped on the ESEE bandwagon after searching for a new hiking knife. I had been using a SOG Tsunami, mostly because it was free to me, but wanted something more useful and less tactical. The Tsnuami is great, but it doesn’t chop well and I never got to test it for batonning ability. I ordered the ESEE-6 and took it out this weekend in the rainy Pacific Northwest for some firecraft exercise (it is really not easy to get a fire going up here in the spring). I pounded that knife hard, chopping and batoning with it, and it performed excellently.

Ordered the OD Green Izula with mini survival kit for $58!

Can't wait for it to get in.

Mainsail -

are those scales, on your ESEE 6, off of an ESEE 5? or do they now make the scales, for the 6, with a bow drill divot also? that used to be a feature that was only on the ESEE 5.

Ahh yes! I've recently gotten my ESEE 5 and I am already planing out new purchases.

So I feel your pain!

A co-worker of mine recently got a Bark River Bravo 1 and when he showed it to people at work, they told him to bring his mom back her kitchen knife. When I showed the same people my ESEE 5 comments ranged from, "holy $@#!" to "now THATS a knife". All while he was standing right there. I couldn't help but enjoy it.

That's a great price! Did you get it from ESEE? What kit was with it, the wallet?
