Holy cow, looks like there is a lot of brand loyalty around here, lol. I am relatively new to the CZ line so I am not brand loyal.
I bought my CZ 75B specifically for IDPA SSP division and for USPSA Production division. I got the gun based upon ergonomics and recommendations from a pretty decent shooter. Glocks point too high and every time I shoot a SIG or an HK it feels like I am holding a box car and they have too much reciprocating mass to suit me. Beretta 92 pistols just don't cut it for me.
I have owned better pistols but I also paid a lot more. The sights on the 75B aren't the best and the trigger was ok but not great. The gun was incredibly accurate right out of the box. I did some work on the sights with a file to widen the notch and I drifted the sight for windage. I also bent the magazine brake so the mags would drop free and I dumped the main spring in favor of a lighter Wolff spring. Other than that, the pistol is stock. I jumped right into USPSA Production division and did just fine. There are some really good IPSC shooters using a CZ and they do pretty good too. Look at what Angus Hobdell (Grand Master) can do with his CZ 85.
I could go on but I'll just say that the CZ is a decent pistol for the money (but I think retail is way too much) and the potential of the pistol is only limited by the ability of the person pulling the trigger. I am sure there are some lemons out there, but bashing a CZ in the areas of accuracy, reliability and potential to perform, really is a dead end street.
