FWIW:
I'm a certified gun nut... I'm a senior citizen and I've owned at least one firearm since I was 12 years old.
I'm on the pre-order list for a Boberg XR9-S.
I have never been attracted to the Rohrbaugh.. I know it's a high-quality pistol, it just never "called my name", which is actually a bit surprising since "sub-compact 9's" are a favorite of mine.
The first time I saw a photo of the XR9-S my first reaction was "holy crap, that's one ugly pistol".. And, my first reaction was spot on..
But then I watched some videos, a fellow Seecamp forum member actually got one, and loves it. I believe he has run over a thousand rounds thru his XR9-S and now he REALLY, REALLY loves it, and that's a pretty good testimony for a low serial numbered, new production model pistol no matter who's name is engraved on the slide.
It's certainly ALREADY better than the first run, low serial numbered Walther PPS I bought....
But really, IF all I wanted was a very good cc 9MM pistol I already have a Ruger LC9. For those of you who aren't familiar with the little sub-compact 9, I'd call it just an LCP on steroids. (w/better factory sights).
The more I read about it the more attractive the little Boberg became to me.
Is the XR9-S worth a thousand bucks?
It will be to me when my name is called.
Will the XR9-S gonna be any better, or do anything any better than other choices such as the Rohrbaugh, Solo, whatever?
Don't know.
But I'm willing to invest in the price of admission to find out for myself.
If (when I get one) my XR9-S is not up snuff, you'll read about it right here, from me, all the dirt there is..
But..
On the other hand IF the Boberg XR9-S is all it's touted to be, you're gonna have to hear about THAT too!
Just making conversation, no offense to Rohrbaugh folks in particular.
