I've used some expensive stuff in my Kel Tec PF-9 that didn't cycle all that reliably but Remington UMC works every time.

I use what ever they got in 45acp. WWB or UMC. I had multible problems with Blazer Brass, none with Blazer auminum.

In 9mm it is WWB all the way, been shootin it for near on 16 years IIRC now. Several hundred thousand rounds down range with one, about 8 years ago, with the primer in backwards.

That one got me an additional hundred rounds of 9mm.

Shoot what you like.

Oh yea, the WWB 45acp Chrono'd consistantly around 833fps. with a power factor about 191-193

Go figure.

Winchester Brass is better than Remington if you reload. I've had bad experience with Remington ammo; bullets not seated properly, or coming loose or being pushed into the case. And the brass is very thin.

WWB for me. In the last couple years I've gone through probably 6 or 7 K from the factory and reloaded the cases several times with no problems. Just recently switched to Blazer Brass due to a supply issue (WWB went up in price at the gunshop). We'll see how these cases hold up to reloading.

The only issue Ive had with Blazer Brass was I recieved a few boxes one time that were untumbled at the plant (still had manufacturing lube on them). I bought these from Wally World. They fired just the same though.

Ive heard of UMC jamming some guns up (squibs) but they are more velocity consistent.

WWB had high variations, however, I have yet to see one squib or KB.

Makes me wonder what variations they have with their defensive stuff. I guess that is why I handload ALL my ammuniton (defensive or not). Im the quality control, so I feel confident in the munitions.

Also I have been told (but not yet confirmed) that there is a difference between the green box UMC and the stuff in the yellow 250rnd packs.

It's true. There is a difference ..... they use yellow ink on one box, and green ink on the other. There it is. The difference. Right there.

In my limited experience, UMC tends to spit a lot of still-burning powder out the barrel. It may be no big deal, but I don't like that. So I usually choose WWB over UMC.

Well - I think what this should really come down to is take a box of both UMC and Winchester out to the range and shoot them through the same gun at targets and see which it likes best.

Every gun prefers certain ammo better than others.

Whichever it works best with - use.

i get whatever is cheapest, they both work fine for me, i have some bad rds in umc. 1 .40s&w and 2 .223 and non from wwb. but that is just me being picky.and that is out of a lot of ammo.

I've yet to see a difference in 9mm, .38 or .40S&W.

My SA Milspec doesn't like WWB accuracy wise but will shoot UMC just fine. What's weird is my reloads using Winchester components and powders (attempting to duplicate the trouble) shoot better than UMC.

Judging from the holes in the paper, Remington 158gr LRN .38 special is tumbling through the air, at least from a 2-inch barrel. I wish somebody would chrono some of that, I bet it's going slow as hell. (even for .38) Don't seem to have that problem with their 130gr MC.

Same with .40S&W with my Glock 22, can't seem to get tighter groups with it than 6" at 30 feet (one even went through the target stand 1x2" sideways) with (Yellow Box) UMC, WWB is a bit better (and doesn't tumble), Magtech I can do 2-3" Groups and with Crossfire Reloads I can manage 1 1/2"-2 3/4" Groups at the same range.

For my money it's Winchester White Box, I've never had a lick of trouble and will continue to use it as often as possible. I have had some failure to fire with Remmington Green Box and think it leaves more carbon.

All the Winchester White Boxes I've bought from Walmart in 9mm have left tiny yellow flakes (not brass) all over and inside my gun. Very annoying.

I've got a boatload of WWB. All of my sidearms (in 9MM) seem to like it, and there's one thing I know for sure - my CX4 Storm (again, in 9MM) eats it up like candy, and is pretty much dead-on with it at 35-40 meters.

The only failure to cycles i've ever experience in my S&W 659 9mm were from the same 100rd box of UMC ammo. That's over 25,000 rounds without a problem except when using UMC ammo. I'd fired 500+ rounds in one session without cleaning that gun without any problems, but in less than 100 rounds of UMC the gun was so gunky that the slide felt 'sticky' on the rails. The second failure came only 30 rounds after the first - and after the first i field stripped the gun and cleaned it on the spot. I haven't touched UMC since, though i'll admit that it's possible i simply got a bad batch. That admitted, i've never seen a bad batch of WWB...

I found Rem UMC 45 ACP surprising accurate. It will hold the 10 ring at 25 yards. Quality is just fine. It is slightly more accurate than WWB.
I have to agree it does leave a lot of residue in the gun, but I don't shoot that many rounds any more (don't have to because I hit what I am shooting at) and clean the gun after each range session.

I regularly buy 9mm UMC for ~$7 for a 50rd box. I've never seen anything that low in price for other brands. I regard UMC as fairly dirty, I can't imaging WWB being worse. What do people pay for a box of 50rd 9mm?
