recent batches of WWB in .40 have had several failures to extract in my XD 40, blazer brass works fine as does remington UMC... so no more .40 wwb for me...

I've had no problems with any WWB. I think the best factory ammo in the cheaper price range, overall, would be American Eagle. Clean, brass ejects easily, goes bang every time

American Eagle is usually $2-3 more per box in my area. I like the stuff - I think it's considerably hotter than the WWB.

american eagle is good, no problems. I like WWB waay better than CCI blazer. It seemed that cci was not as "smooth" of a bullet, the WWB casings, and bullets seemed more refined. I have had no problems loading either, its just the CCI casings seemed to swell more than the WWB and American Eagles. I like the Fedeal JHP HiShoks my local walmart had them on clearance for 9 bucks a box of 50.

I cant get the CCI Blazers to even eject from my SBH. The aluminum casings are a pain. I don't use those anymore. I know that they're comming out with an expanded brass line, but the others left a bad taste.

WWB JHPs are actually Winchester Silvertips without the silver coating... or at least, that's the story in 9mm. I'd imagine that's the same deal in every caliber.

It's good stuff.

well, I am now officially done with wwb in .40, had a squib last night that the primer backed out of and swelled in the chamber, and wouldn't extract... ended up pounding it out...

Also had several failures to extract... the CCI blazer brass worked fine...

WWB ammo

I dont know if ALL of it is of this origin, but the 7.62 x25 I bought was made by Sellier & Bellot (Czech.) and is excellent and reloadable. Discussions amongst CZ 52 user on various lists revealed this. I trust the authority of this info.

Those theoretical origins might account for the attractive price

Interesting to read this just after getting back from the range and trying the WWB out for the second time in my SW 5906. The Smith is relatively new, less than 1000 rounds put through it, and is well maintained. I usually practice with UMC and Hydra-shok, and I've honestly never had any problems with them.

Tried them for the first time last week, and had two FTE's which concerned me a little...

But today, I loaded up the WWB in six mags, 4 ten round, 2 15 round. 2 of the ten rounders had an FTE after three or four shots. One of the 15 rounders had an FTE at round number 6. So, we're not talking spring problems. I don't believe I was handling the gun any differently, i.e., limp wristing or anything...

I extracted the spent casings. After using up the WWB in that current load, went back to UMC and Hydra-shoks, no problems. BTW, the UMC and WWB were the same load numbers.

I know some guns just don't like some types of ammo, but this is the first time I ever remember experiencing this.

I had four rds of the 9mm 115 fmj in my loose ammo box that I fired in my BHP this past Wednesday that was evidently poorly assembled: I had 5 rds total: the first rd hang fired - hammer dropped, pause :what: , bang....no ejection.....second and third rds fired but again no ejection....fourth fired and ejected but fell very close and fifth/last rd fired and ejected normally.

These were the bullets that are brass colored as opposed to the ones I've used that had the copper colored bullets. This is the first time I've ever seen this happen with factory loaded ammo, WWB in particular....I've seen thousands of rds of it fired in various calibers and in various pistols without incidence....but then, they were the copper colored bullets out of the 50 rd boxes...hmmmm. I've only seen these brass colored bullets from the 100 rd boxes not that the color of the bullet makes a difference but maybe they just weren't as quality controlled as the 50 rd boxes  .....nahhh that shouldn't be the case.....probably just a "Friday evening batch"....but it still sorta of "hurt" my feelings to see it happen....AND reminded me that NOTHING on this earth can be absolutely counted on....."Murphy" is still around and in business!

I particularly like the WWB 147 fmj bullets in the 50 rd boxes - my Glocks do very well with this ammo....hope it never happens with any of them!

I don't mind them in my revolvers, but had problems in both my Colt and S&W1911 with them.

The 9mm VP (and every other 9mm I've tried) shoots great in my P228. The .38 spl. VP shoots fine in my S&W Model 27. The .45 ACP VP is pretty dirty in my SW1911, but I don't mind cleaning the gun, so its no big deal.

The only Win VP ammo I ever had trouble with was the .40 S&W in my CZ 75B, and I never liked the fact that this was 165 gr. ammo. I now buy Blazer Brass or regular Blazers in 180 gr., and I have had no problems since.

I've been burning WWB valuepacks in .45 for a while now, with no problems out of several 1911s and a thompson.

IIRC blazer brass is around the same price as the valuepacks (around $20/100 rounds), and it runs well.

I have also been through some 9mm valuepacks in a Ruger P95 and a lot more in a G17 with no problems.

Ken:
Try giving winchester a call and let them know about your troubles and the lot number it came from. You might get a couple of free boxes of ammo out of it.

Tman, I would let them know but I don't know which lot they came from....they were loose rds left over from a box that had already been discarded by someone else. This is the first problem I've ever experienced with the WWB ammo and I've used/seen quite a bit fired during practice, training and qualifications.

$11.00 a box up here and 500 rounds later thru two 1911's a '53 colt and a new S&W...not a hitch.

Another satisfied WWB customer. I've shot over 6,000 rounds of 9mm 115 gr FMJ and 4,000 rounds of .45 230 gr FMJ without a single failure. I haven't noticed it being any dirtier than other similar rounds although I will say that I have had a few "smokers." I use it for all my USPSA matches because it is plenty accurate and cheap.

I've also put several hundred rounds of JHP in both calibers through my guns. Again, 100.00% reliability. You just can't beat it. :D

Dang! Walmart in Rapid City SD, has increased the price on WWB .40 SW. it is now 20 dollars a box.. I figured I will just purchase them from Scheels or a gun shop now..

Maybe the internet now. That sucks. Hope it was just a mark up error or something.
