I agree shows are tough. I worked the last one in our area, Kingman, Az. I just take my traders and a few safe queens.
Unfortunately, it was one of the worst shows at which I've had a table. I made about $800 and spent $700. I admit I came away with two real prizes, but everyone was slow. Money seems to be real tight. A lot of people, but I had a cheap 1911 in .45 for $300 and it didn't sell and it was a real nice gun for cheap.
One of the guns I bought was a milsurp. I bought it when the guy was packing up to go and he said it was the only sale he made in two days. Gave it to me cheap just so he could say he covered his costs.
I agree, be nice to these guys. They put in a long, hard day and often have little or nothing to show for it in the end.
I may stop by and say hi. It's a long story, but my oldest son is getting married in Farmington on Sunday. I'm supposed to pick up his grandmother in Phoenix on Saturday and drive her up. If all goes well we'll make a brief tour.
Best of luck, stay hydrated and bring a chair.
