So there's laws in Texas stating that for a business to not allow concealed carry, they must post a sign in 1 inch block letters in English and Spanish at the door containing the law giving them the right to ban concealed carry (the law is 30.06 btw). The question is, would you carry in a place that DOES post "no concealed firearms" signs but DOES NOT post the signs legally required?

These are common in my area.

These are what's legally required.

As long as they did not have the sign legally required I would legally carry.

I seriously think that the non-spec signs are placed there by shop managers who could care less but were told my corporate management OUTSIDE OF THE STATE to post 'no-gun' signs. What other reason would they bother posting them?

I will go one better. I think some are posted by gun-owning CHL savy managers who post the signs because it is a corporate mandate that some notice must be posted, but intentionally post signs that are not legally binding so as to not disallow proper CHL carriers.

So, you guys would all walk right past the sign and insist on spending your hard-earned money in an anti-gun establishment instead of in a pro-gun establishment?

I'm in Maine so the laws are different. If they post a "no firearms" signs you can't open carry on their property but you can carry concealed as long as you make a reasonable attempt to conceal the firearm. If they see a firearm they can ask you to leave. If I see a "no firearms" sign....I just walk away. They don't get my business even if I could have walked on their property with a firearm against their wishes legally if I wanted to. It comes down to principle.

I'm a salesman. If I choose to do business with you, I will. If I don't choose to, I won't. My reasons are my reasons. It could be simply a hunch or it could be your long history of not paying the bills. Whatever I decide for whatever reason... it's my choice. The free market will take care of the problem...whatever the problem might be.

It depends on the state and the intent. If I think that a shop manager is DELIBERATELY posting a non-spec sign to ALLOW people to carry, yes I would walk right past it. Exactly who is and is not pro or anti-gun is not at all clear, and there may or may not be a clear alternative business to do what you need to do.

Unless they are wanding at the door, then yes, carry.

From my CC class in Alaska, the most they can do is ask you to leave. If you dont comply, then you are trespassing.

I will carry my firearm wherever it is legal to do so.

Businesses that post anti-firearm signs will not get my business, however, there are times when an acquaintance opts for an eatery or such, and I will accompany them despite a non-legal sign.

My response to the question is if your concealing properly how would they know if you have it.......Here in California (San Joaquin valley)if a sign is posted and you go in and then they find out you have it they can ask you to leave, then if you refuse then its an issue....But here they don't ask you to leave, they automatically call the police.

Posting an illegal sign intentionally isn't necessarily "anti gun". I have a friend who owns a team sports store, lots of "soccer mom" traffic. He used to shoot IPSC with me and he has a gun buster sign in the door.

It's there for the soccer moms and it's intentionally not binding against CHLs.

He's pro gun but he has a business to run also, so he splits the difference. I have no problem with it. Makes stupid people feel good without impacting law abiding citizens.

That's what we call a win-win.

If I see a sign I take my business else where.I refuse to support a store that infringes on my rights. For that reason I will not go in Dick's Sporting Goods,Kmart to name a couple.Costco is a gun free store I read. They don't post a sign so I still shop there. In NC if a store or business has a sign posted you're suppose to honor the sign. I don't know it has to be a certain sign or anything the store puts up.I think allot has to do with the companies insurance policies.

If I could not do business with every business that didn't have some conflict with some aspect of my beliefs, there would be very few places where I could do business. About the only business that isn't in some sort of conflict with my beliefs is my business.

Personally, I don't want to spend my hard earned money, but if I have to spend it somewhere, I don't want to pay through the nose and lose more of my hard earned money than is necessary. Funny thing how a variety of non anti-concealed carry establishments don't have my financial interests at heart. They want a lot more of my hard earned money than some non-openly welcoming concealed carry businesses for the exact same products.

Additionally, establishments with which you may not want to do business may have information necessary to help make a better purchase decisions or have product information and so entry may be prudent or necessary in order to do so even if you don't actually plan on spending money there, and you don't want to be breaking trespass laws in the process.

Is there a list of businesses that don't allow guns? I Googled "list of businesses that don't allow guns" and my eyes started to bleed after what came up first in the search. I just clicked into it blindly.
