Sell him the SKS and buy the gun you really want.
That's exactly what I did.I have an SKS. I want a Ruger American ranch in 7.62x39 for my boys when they get a couple years older. One of my coworkers is dieing to get an SKS and is willing to pay me what it would cost to buy the RAR.
I'm struggling with it because I don't sell guns.
I shoot too far for it to become my favorite rifle. But I think it would be pretty high on the list. That's exactly what I did.
I owned two sks, never liked them.
I carried one around in my truck for years.
The milsurp thing never appealed to me.
I did, however stock up on ammo....lots of it.
I traded my last one for my RAR 7.62x39.
It has become my favorite centerfire rifle.

(7.62x39 AR pistol?)I shoot too far for it to become my favorite rifle. But I think it would be pretty high on the list.
Like you, I have a bunch of 7.62x39 ammo. Because of this, I either need to go on a rampage or buy another gun that shoots it.
That was the other thought. I'm kind of partial to bolt actions though.(7.62x39 AR pistol?)
Both of yours are unique. Mine isn't.I have a RAR in 7.62x39 and two SKS carbines ..
The RAR is a accurate carbine ...
Fit and finish is lacking ,,,.having said that , function and accuracy is spot on ...would I give up one of my SKS rifles for my RAR
Nope .... One of my SKS carbines is a 16 inch version, the other is like new ...
ethier would be hard to replace... The little Ruger is easy .. Within 15 miles of my house they are ten gunstores that ethier have the RAR in stock or a click on the computer away ...
I really like what Ruger is doing ... light ,accurate and affordable carbines in out of the norm chamberings ...
That's funny because my sks with Tapco stock( I got tired of being bumped in the nose with my thumb)...is still sitting in the usef rack of my lgs where I traded it. I think he allowed me $150 on trade. I'm not certain what he is asking for it....but it's still there since September of '18. I would gladly trade two sks for one RAR.I have a RAR in 7.62x39 and two SKS carbines ..

I know many people like them, and I'm good with that....but I dont..
Actually, the choice is simple. One of your relatives is disposing of their estate. You can have one gun free. You’ve got the two guns laying on a table side by side. You can have one. Which do you pick up?
This SKS was my only center fire rifle for about 5 years. At that time all my hunting was in swamps or evergreen thickets. Half the time I just carried a shotgun instead. When move wide open country my needs and wants changed. Most deer and coyotes I shoot are well outside of it's range because of the accuracy limits.SKS. Not particularly accurate. Not particularly beautiful. Not valuable. Yet still holds its own against more modern offerings at a low price. Heck withe the tapco stuff gimme milsurp wood. Gets damaged or stolen and no tears will be shed. I also grew weary of more guns than needed. I could do everything I ever am gonna need with an SKS and a model 10 police trade in. Cheap yet high quality tools for us commoners.
I don't need the cash. It's more about freeing up space. My gun locker is over full. I can buy an unmolested Norinco for less than he offered me for this modified one.
I have dies and brass, but got tired of playing scavenger hunt.Trade a commie rifle for one that has “American” in it’s name? Of course you should!
Do you reload 7.62x39?
What do you mean by scavenger hunt? I reload plenty for x39, and components are fairly easy to find.I have dies and brass, but got tired of playing scavenger hunt.
Components are easy. My used brass is slung into the next country. Unlike the neat piles my AR makes. What do you mean by scavenger hunt? I reload plenty for x39, and components are fairly easy to find.
I’d sell it then. Buy an unmolested one.I don't need the cash. It's more about freeing up space. My gun locker is over full. I can buy an unmolested Norinco for less than he offered me for this modified one.
