Bfh_auto: If your SKS is the very common Chinese semi-commercial variety, with the attached gear you described (certainly not a decent Romanian, Russian etc), I would sell it and be glad to have available cash for another gun. I spent many hours reading SKSboards and chatting in person with SKS owners who were Not selling a gun (no agenda).
There's nothing--in my opinion--such as having $400-$1200 hot cash (or more), if necessary by selling a gun(s), to spend on any other type I want. Just sold my lonely Russian .380 Makarov to own an extra, second, but holster-worn Sig P6 (I changed the mainspring). Recently sold two nice guns in order to buy a brand-new Czech Small Arms VZ-58. This is just a fraction of the gun changes here....
It would be so simple for you to later buy another extremely common Chinese spike bayo SKS and add on tactical plastic.
