WTDI: SWAT gets the wrong house

the mayor in pg they followed the dope to his house and saw his mil take it in the house. how was that warrant shady? tragic yes shady i don't think so.

as someone who has had the experience of being on the noisey end of a raid. don't sweat it it'll be over before you have a chance to realize whats happening. it will bear no resemblance to any fantasy you might have. closest comparison it waking up in the middle of a violent car crash. and whoever said "don't associate with the wrong crowd" gave great advice. a properly exexuted swat raid is designed so everyone goes home alive. if we leave the zomg for a min we'll see that they actually reduce shots fired. case in point it was just recently that la lost their first cop on a swat raid in spite of being in the biz since the beginning and running a great many raids.i think balko needs to crunch the numbers for total raids and number of folks hurt. funny he hasn't done that yet

Umm... they knew the scheme involved delivering drugs to an unrelated third party and then picking them off the porch. If so, why did they suspect the unrelated third party, who happened to be the mayor, was somehow criminally involved. Not to mention that Maryland does not authorize no-knock warrants, a judge never issued a no-knock warrant, and they never informed the law enforcement of the city they were operating in!

ummm no they didn't know and so far other than on the internet that warrant was good in court do you have any facts that would differ? the cops info was that there was dope being delivered the slick scheme was uncovered after the raid. again if you have FACTS that differ please share em.

This morning we were doing OK with this thread. The usual 'OMG another wrong address SWAT team' stuff but no bizarro world nonsense.

So we go from 'make sure your house number is easily visible' and 'try getting active in local politics' to 'OMG they got APCs with .50 cals now' and 'they send drugs to your address and then shoot your dogs.'

Thing is, there are some few cases where home invasion gangs really do yell "POLICE" when they kick in doors.

There are some cases where actual police raids get delivered to the wrong address.

But it seems we can't sit back and talk about such things calmly and analytically, we gotta get all wound up like a box of cheap watches about how eeevile the cops are.

And then the thread gets locked, one more time. Which increases the odds immensely that next time I see such a thread title, it'll get locked off the bat. Along with the SHTF threads and the zombie threads.

I'd rather not go there. But I'd even less rather leave the yellow line on the edge of the High Road behind, roll down into the bar ditch and wallow around in the mud and trash.

You know, I'm the only one with a name in the moderator box here, but the truth is, every one who posts here is their own moderator. Keep posts level headed, on topic and to the point, and there's not much of anything we can't discuss. But go all Internet and whoops, off we go into padlock land and deleted post land and warnings, infractions and bans.

How things go here is YOUR choice as much as it is mine.
