I've been considering a few different 9mm pistols to add to my battery, and after handling a few, I have decided on the XD9, but with some reservations.
I've heard that if there is any kind of parts breakage, or if anything needs to be replaced, you have to send the gun to the factory to get it fixed. Apparently, they won't let the owner do their own work. And I've heard that it can cost $40 to do the shipping. And I've heard that this fact has caused others to go with a different gun as a result. If something breaks, it makes sense to pay a local gunsmith, or better yet, buy the part yourself and replace it.
But how often does this "breakage" occur on an XD? Does anyone here have any experience?
