You have only one choice.

This is just a random internet pick. Its identical to the one I have. Its the one gun I will never part with. It will out last me by several generations.

If I can only have one gun it will definitely be one of these:

Seriously, though, am I the only one who finds these "if you can only have N" threads silly?

I have more than one, and I suspect I always will.

Wait a minute... Aren't Mystical Genies supposed to give you stuff, not take it away?!?

So obvious that this is a government Genie .

As to the question - I've been there and done that for a 6 year period in my life. I lived on a small (5+) plot of woods and lawn just off a river bottom.

My keeper gun was a Mossberg in 20ga. with a 19" barrel. (cylinder bore).
It served me well for all needs.

I had bought it earlier at a gun show for $75 in the late 80's . The barrel extension was loose and I had a friend of mine re-do the silver solder.

I'd sort through the stash, find the one that vaporizes mystical genies that take guns and use it.

If forced to choose only one, it would be a toss up between a .22 rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun. Probably the shotgun.

I have only one custom gun, a SA Mil-Spec worked over by Bob Miller into a tack driving thing of beauty. That's the one I keep.

It would be easy for me to identify the top two - Mossberg 500 and a Marlin30-30 lever action. I would greatly miss not having both of these. Since I like to shoot clays and have chosen a shotgun as the primary choice for home defense, I would have to pick my Mossberg.

As a hunter/outdoorsman, I guess I'd have to go with the very first gun I owned: A good pump action 12 gauge (Mossberg 500 or Remington 870) with several barrels:

28-inch ribbed barrel with removable chokes for clays, birds, and small game,
24-inch rifled barrel with cantilever scope mount and 4X scope for big game, and
18-inch cylinder barrel for home defense.

Just seems to me that a good 12 gauge is the most versatile option for a sportsman.

...Personally I would consider myself an idiot of epic proportions if I picked anything other than a handgun. That would mean choosing to live the majority of my life unarmed.

Yeah, I kinda agree with this. Off the top of my head, my choice would probably be a S&W M&P9c. Hmmm, if I had one, maybe I'd choose a H&K P7M13 :)

Make mine a Colt 901 with the adapter kit and a LOT of uppers! (No, I don't have one yet..but here's a picture so you get the general idea)

Home defense (in 5.56), hunting (in 308), mid-longish range target fun, and defense against tyranny :D

Should work well on genies, too

It would depend on the societal conditions outside the locked farm gates. If it was all peaceful, it would be "...all time favorite, I could never part with...", my first love, the USGI M1 Carbine. But if things outside the gate were not all sweetness and light and kumbayah, it would be the Stag AR in 6.8. Just gotta get the rest of those empty cases loaded up first. Silly question really, but lots of entertaining comments.

Nice to see that so many people would choose a CZ!

I'd go with my CZ 75 SP-01 Viper, plus a regular Shadow and maybe a Kadet upper:

Hi, seeing your choice made me really happy, since I am actually currently deciding which one from the SP-01 family to buy. I would be really happy if you could weigh one that.

I am quite new to firearms - only half-a-year. Currently I have only CZ 75 Compact D (PCR) both for carry and range. I was first thinking about getting 1911 as a second firearm, but then I decided to leave the .45 purchase for later and just buy another 9mil for the range.

Having a decocker model, I am inclined to get the SP-01 tactical (actually lack of decocker model was one of the reasons why I discarded 1911 and CZ 97 along with the fact that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to shooting, and 9mil rounds are considerably cheaper than .45). But after watching some videos with Angus Hobdel, I am thinking about the Shadow or Shadow Line. The safety and lack of firing pin block are however putting me off a bit.

I dry fired both the Tactical and Shadow Line in a shop on Wednesday and I could notice a wee bit of difference, but not that much really.

Then there is a little devil in the back of my mind that is telling me to get a P09 and PDW conversion for more fun... is P09 any good as a range gun when compared to SP-01? I wanted to compare them at a range, but the one that has both models near me is closed now pending investigation of a girl hit by a bounced bullet :(

I don't hunt very often, so I wouldn't really need a rifle or shotgun. For general self defense, concealed carry, home defense, range fun, etc. - a handgun could do it all for me. My top 2 choices would be my Beretta 92FS or my Ruger GP100 4" stainless. If forced to pick just 1 based on practicality, I'd probably go with the .357 revolver for it's versatility, ease of maintenance and ability to be pushed into a hunting role if absolutely necessary.

Hi Snejdarek, I am not sure if your question is directed at me or the OP.

I wanted a gun for target shooting and IPSC and had no need for a decocker or a firing pin block. I also wanted an all-steel gun, since I find heavier guns easier to control. The Shadow was the obvious choice.

I guess it's up to your personal preferences and needs. If you plan to carry your gun, the presence of the decocker on the Tactical might make up for the (however slightly) less perfect trigger pull. The P-09 might also be a good carry option because of its light weight.

I'm sure some of the more experienced CZ shooters can give you better and more detailed advice :)
Of course, you might get even more answers if you post in the CZ club thread:

...or open your own one in the "Autoloaders" subforum.

BTW: My Dad has a CZ 97B - it's a great alternative to 1911s if you have big enough hands.

This one; (PTR-52 pistol, sear ready) if it turns out as nice as I'm hoping it does

On the other hand, if it doesn't this is my current favorite, SiG-553 SBR

My Mossberg 500 with accompanying barrels. Small game to big game, and any bad guy or gun-thieving genie in between.

I started this thread

And you have all convinced me of which gun to keep ...The one that shoots genies and gimme my dang guns back...LOL

Thanks all...was nice to see everyone's favorite (and see some pretty creative answers...lol)
