My uncle Kevin passed away last night from a gunshot wound to his abdomen, resulting from a negligent discharge of a 45 handgun. He leaves behind two sons (Kevin Jr, and Jared), his wife Jodi, and a lot of family members who cared a great deal for him.

Kevin was a strong, lifelong second amendment supporter, friend, and mentor. He was always the type to call or write to politicians to let them know how he felt about what they were doing. He was a handloader, and a good marksman, a fisherman, and a gardener. Many a pin went tumbling down in front of his sights at club meets, and there was always food on the table for his family.

He saw me through some rough spots when I was younger, after my father shot himself when I was a kid. He helped me understand the world better and helped to keep my head straight as I was growing up. I wasn't alone, because he always went out of his way to help those in need. He gave of himself, continuously.

I can't write more. But I will leave this message for others:

Don't mix alcohol and guns, and don't make assumptions. It only takes one small mistake to lose everything.

RIP Kevin Ales, you will be missed, my friend.

Sorry for your loss Kevin.

Ouch...this is two NDs on here in a week.

My thoughts are with you. I can't imagine...

Thanks for sharing your sad, but ever so important story about your Uncle. Losing one person in a family to a firearms related incident is sad, losing two is almost unthinkable.

I will pray for you, and the challenges you will face in the road ahead. Be strong, and take care.

My deepest condolances. If we can learn from others mistakes than hopefully we won't repeat them. Life is precious and it can be gone in an instant. Thank you for posting this.

Don´t mix drugs and any complicated machinery.
