Within two weeks I'll be picking up a Chinese sks. tho id like to know if they are reliable and if they are good for recreational shooting and hunting.

Technically my dad bought me an SKS at a very young age, but I never liked it nor fired it until about 2 years ago. I've put maybe 20 rounds through it....still don't like it.

My first centerfire that I actually shot and used was a Marlin 336 in 30-30. I lost it in a fire and I miss it. Why I don't just buy another one is beyond me. I see them at the LGS used all the time for less than the cost of the optics on my AR.

No, Ruger Mini-14, then Remington 742 BDL .30-06, some of you guys may remember, basketweave .instead of checkering. Ugly as hell, but I loved it.

1st semiautomatic rifle was an M1 Carbine (Win receiver). It was given to me by my grandfather yrs ago. I used it to harvest my first Ozark whitetail when I was still a young turk.

I have passed it down to my oldest, and it will soon be passed on to his boy once he earns the right to have it.

Sears Model 100, Lever Action 30/30...94 knock off...son has it now,... and it still hunts,.....a whole lot of deer,... and a few bear,... have gone down with that gun over the years.

Yugo SKS 59/66,

Perfect fun/cheap rifle for a poor college kid. I wound up selling it to a buddy, so I can still shoot it sometime if I get the itch.
