Your most satisfying gun purchase of 2009?

Tie between the Browning BDM 9mm I've been wanting for about 10 years and the twin sequentially numbered RIA 1911's I bought for the wife and I for Xmas that she doesn't yet know about.

I have been quite busy this year.

But the true winner of my 2009 purchase goes to Browning Hi Power

75C series. Which I traded my Glock 23 (that I bought used $400). It is my favor 9mm pistol by far.

I'm quite satisfied that I haven't bought any guns in 2009. I'm happy with the few I have. Of course, it took me a while to reach this stage because for years I was a very active gun purchaser, to say the least. But when I think back on all the money that I lost in trades for the next cool gun...well, I try not to think about it, actually.

I'm satisfied that my wife finally figured out we need to have a gun in the house and hasn't complained too much about all my purchases over the past few months. I would say my best purchase was the XDm, but the most fun purchase was definitely the AK.

Congrats!!!

...on winning your wife over to our side...I saw a young man around 30 selling a fine pistol in the shop where I buy...a Dallas Police Commemorative S&W Model 66 6", by the way...unfired...and I asked why he was selling it... he said "My wife won't allow one in the house...we have two small girls...I have two deer rifles but they're locked up at our deer camp..." I didn't even say anymore...sad...tragic....unwise...

For handguns, my best purchase was a mint-condition stainless Ruger Security Six with 2 3/4" barrel. I got it for $300, and that included both the original grips and a new set of Hogue grips.

For rifles, it'd have to be a pre-war MAS 36 that is almost entirely matching. It took a while to find that one.

After a trip to the range today, I can conclude with NO doubt at all. that my new to me Python is the most satifying gun I've ever owned.

To say I'm thrilled with it would be an understatement.

I can't imagine a more perfect revolver for me. :)

1. HK 45c
2. S&W model 37 w/bobbed hammer, no IL, new manufacture.
I love them both for different reasons.

well, I bought a few...sadly they went down in an unfortunate seafaring accident aboard a friends ship.

before the accident, my favs were a Springfield TRP 1911, and a S&W .38 with crimson trace grips. If I had to pick, I would go with the .38 because I love carrying that one concealed in my desantis nemesis holster

S&W 442
XDM9
Ruger Mk. II Target

I like 'em all. The 442 I bought to fill a void, the XDM9 is a range/HD gun mostly, and the Mk. II gets me through the times when I can't afford ammo. My favorite is the Ruger, though it's also the newest so that's probably why :D

Hard too choose. Picked up a NIB S&W 5906, a S&W 2206 for my son, and newest acquired is a NIB S&W 4566TSW. Like the 4" stainless steel S&W's

I went on an XD binge this year and wound up with sub compacts in 40 & 45 and finally a full size 45 that are a pleasure to use but the most satisfying is the S&W 617 22lr.

Walther PK380 First Edition. I like all of the guns I have bought this year, but the Walther was the hardest to get. It has become a regular companion.

I made two purchases this year:

Kimber Raptor II (used)

Sig Sauer P220 (new)

The Kimber was my first firearm purchase and the Sig being my second. I enjoy both, and the Kimber has that 1911 nostalgia for me. That being said, I prefer the Sig over the Kimber. It's more natural, easier to shoot, has the decocker for when carrying, etc.

I've wanted a S&W 2 inch snubby .357 Magnum for years, but the price tag (+800 bucks) have alway been beyond my wallet. However at the last gun show, I picked up and EAA Windicator and it felt really great. Even better the price tag was 200 bucks. I sprung for it. After reading the reviews once I got home I thought I was stuck with a lemon, however a trip to the range disproved this. The recoil wasn't all that bad, and it went through a box of .38 Special and .357 Magnums with ease. Its a nice Nitestand companion, goes bang every time.

This S&W 1911 rates first and the Sig P6 below a close second for handguns.
I got the Sig in the summer and I've only had the 1911 a couple weeks.

Not a handgun, but my most satisfying purchase by far is the Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308, 20" heavy barrel. I found it on a used gun shop rack for $500 with a Nikon Pro-Staff 3-9x40 scope mounted and zero'd, smokin' deal!

Since this rifle weighs in at nearly 10 lbs with scope and bipod, it really tames the recoil, very pleasant to shoot. I'm totally satisfied with its performance, my 168 gr handload's are printing betweeen 1.2 and 1.5" at 200 yards, 5 shots.:) This thing is sweet.
