I purchased three pistols this year. A new Stoeger Cougar 8000 (9mm) in January, a new Beretta PX4 (.45acp) in July, and a lightly used CZ 75B (.40) in May. I really enjoy all three of these guns and have fired close to 6,000 rounds (pretty-well evenly distributed between the three of them.) The 9mm and the .45 are the two that I alternate carrying, as they both fit nicely in the same IWB holster.
I was attracted to the CZ gun primarily because it came with a fitted 9mm barrel, manufactured by Barsto. This makes it really easy to switch from .40 to 9mm (and vice-versa) by simply switching the barrel, the magazine, and the recoil spring. I hadn't really liked shooting .40s prior to this purchase, but then all of them that I'd shot before were polymer-framed guns. In contrast, this CZ .40, with its heavier frame, is really a wonderful "fun gun" to have and enjoy. I'm so glad that I ran across the "for sale" ad one day as I was surfing the 'Net, ending up striking a deal with the gun's original owner.
So, for what it's worth, my most satisfying gun purchase this year is my CZ 75B. When I'm at the range putting it through its paces, I'm happier than a famished cockroach that just spotted a discarded Twinkie.
