My 2 most interesting ones have family history
First is a Savage M720, a contract built Browning Auto-5 during WWII. These were used to train B-17 and B-24 bomber gunners in aerial gunnery. They essentially sat on the back of a flatbed truck as it drove down the road and shot skeet with them. My grandfather, a B-24 pilot, somehow acquired one, chopped the barrel and put a cutts compensator on it to use as a dove hunting gun. It was rode hard and put away wet, which accounts for the loss of blue on the reciever. Since it has no collectors value I had it professionally reblued and use it for skeet and dove hunting still.
Before
After
Next is a 1918 Erfurt Luger, that was picked up by my other grandfather at some point during his time in France and Germany. All matching except the magazine, I still shoot it on occasion.
Next is a 1849 Colt Pocket model given to me by my soon-to-be FIL. I knew I started dating that girl for a reason
Then the usual, a CMP Garand and a pre-64 Winchester 1894, my dad's takedown Marlin 39A, my mom's (yes my mom
) Stevens rolling-block .22LR.
I think the most interesting is still in my father's collection, a 17th century bronze barreled naval blunderbuss. Lock still works, but he won't shoot it
