Every day for this entire year I will post old school printed gun ads each day.

I find it interesting that many of these firearm companies had Manhattan addresses, including Remington.

My, how things have changed.

Great thread, hope to see many more historic ads here.
Seed-money was in Manhattan. Old-world mill towns were in New England. Hence the lingering connections to otherwise gun-UN-friendly locales after the demographic shifts.

Todd.

Here are some oldies that haven’t been around for a while:

Clearly Sears wasn’t enamored with Flobert rifles. Even though they sold them they flat out say they won’t recommend or guarantee these products.

“Buy a good rifle, it’ll pay in the end”...If only retailers were as honest today...

Stay safe.

I love how many ads have the same theme.

Some hapless sportsman is doing things and ways when suddenly confronted by a specter of nature, all; toothy, fangy and clawy yet happens to have a firearm to-hand to live and fry, hike or chop wood another day.

"I'm not a hunter but I play one in advertisements. When I'm tying flies over a cook fire of my own recently chopped firewood and drying my fish caught while hunting moose - I ALWAYS have my trusty Red Rider a-hand in case of predatory predation upon my firmation!"

Todd.

WOW thats a hell of a story going on in that one, I can smell the bacon & fish frying, I hear the cat.. Many thanks
The artist really knew how to bring the picture life !
I hear ya with the bacon & fish frying , coffee pot on an open fire you are almost there !
But you have your trusty Winchester rifle in hand .

That Winchester ad is the greatest! Not only do you have the cookfire going, the mountain lion snarling, and the startled gentleman with his trusty Winchester close by, but somehow they managed to even slip in some product placement with the Winchester wooden ammo box right in the middle of all the action!

Bravo Winchester Advertising Department! Bravo!

Probably find that the knife, hatchet and flashlight, among other items, were all Winchester as well.

Todd.

Same here. But I hope for his sake that rifle is at least a 30-30; I'd hate to face that cat with naught but a 25-20! But of course, it likely is given the age of the ad.

Mac

Maybe so, but do not forget he had the Winchester knife & hatchet also..
