As far as conflict resolution goes, "numbers" of people disagreeing with you has no bearing on right or wrong...
though it is a popular measure these days in the brace new work of YouTube/TikTok "Influencers."
But as far as 'deciding' goes it has been a life's works to make a decision in the face of conflicting data -- even conflicting people.
KG remains the classic case -- studied in any number of academic and decision-making settings -- of "I didn't want to get involved..." and it will remain so as long as there are people who were old enough to have actually read the morning/week-after headlines when it happened.
post script: Did the Gentle Readers get to the part noting not thirty-eight... but apparently 49 people who were eventually recorded as witnesses of some aspect of the incident?

Two neighbors retrieved their own firearms to go to the aid of two deputies who'd just taken shotgun wounds to the head (both in danger of losing their eyesight). Shot at the suspect to (apparently) allow other neighbors to drag the injured deputies to safety into a nearby garage until additional responders arrived.
Any thoughts? This one seems to have worked out well. The deputies were well-known in the neighborhood, and one of the two residents that came to their aid apparently had some combat experience (military).
