The Best Gun shops in Indiana.

I am not sure if they are the best - after all I haven't been able to see the rest of them - but the guys at Tomlinson's in Churubusco are very nice guys, decent selection (not large, but pretty decent).

Tomlinson Shooting Supplies
8475 E Us Highway 33
Churubusco, IN 46723
260-693-2830

Also, Mile Corner in Garrett, IN, smaller shop, but good people.

Mile Corner Gun & Gallery Inc
510 State Road 327
Garrett, IN 46738
(260) 357-3567

As a few have mentioned, Midwest Guns in Southbend and Mishawaka. Great selection and good folks.‎

My vote goes to Tomlinson's as well. I have been there many times and they are polite and have a good selection of handguns.

I stop in there about once a month and more often than not, buy a gun from them. They always have at least one good deal that I can't pass up.

H&H is a joke. I have only bought a couple of guns from them in the past decade. Almost every time I walk in there, I walk out empty handed. They are one of the largest store around but somehow never have anything I want or need.

ZX Guns located in Goshen ...not real big but very good prices, at shows I've been too they seem to have the lowest prices, an the biggest crowd. If your pricing, an don't check them out you've made a mistake IMO.

My recollections are a few years out of date, so things may have changed. However:

In Indianapolis, Pop's guns is a good place.

Don's guns is a dingy pit of a place staffed by synaptically-challenged cretins hawking ridiculously overpriced firearms, and Don himself is a pathetic attention-whoring huckster.

There is (or was) a good shop in Lafayette Indiana, I want to say it was Lafayette Guns and Gear. Fair prices and the proprietor was always a good guy.

Rajo's in Evansville is your typical shop staffed by people who are socially challenged.

Strictly Shooting in Evansville is or was decent, as well as having an indoor range.

If you're willing to cross the border into Kentucky, Whittaker's Guns is worth visiting just for the huge inventory. It's easily the second biggest gun shop I've ever been in and the staff were generally helpful.

I've been to Rajo's a few times, to get accessories, but their prices seem to be rather high on almost everything.

I've also been to Strictly shooting a few times, their prices are somewhat better than Rajo's, but the employees there seem to be kind of limited in the knowledge department. I went there wanting an 870 Police and none of them knew what I was asking for. I ended up going all the way over to Keisler's in Jeffersonville which I'd recommend if your in the area.

In downtown Evansville there is a retired police officer named Brent who has a small shop in the Seigel's Uniform store. His inventory is quite small but he does $5 transfers, so I'd recommend him.

I've also been to the midwest Gun Exchange in SouthBend and Elkhart, they have a pretty good selection, and even ammo too, but I think many of their firearms are to pricey myself.

IN gun shops

I was in Terre Haute late 60's early 70's and a place called Poffs, or something like that, picked up a couple nice ones, hard to remember back that far, but they had ever thing.
haven't been to indiana since 83 bet its changed a bit.

Avoid Don's Guns like the plague...worst gun shop I have ever seen.

Plainfield Shooting Supply is very, very good on just about all counts...inventory and price. I have purchased 3 from them.

Beech Grove Firearms is good. Used prices are a little high but you can talk.

There is a very nice little shop in Cicero Indiana called Wyatt's. Cicero is about 30 miles north of Indianapolis on Indiana route 19...near Morse Reservoir.

I'll join the chorus and say stay away from Don's Guns. Especially if you shop with your wife or daughter.

If you get in the area Jerry's Gun Shop in on 52 in Rensselaer is very good with a knowledgeable owner despite the fact he is ex-police. The prices are reasonable for a smaller town and often has surplus ammunition.

North and east of the town of Monon is a small shop called Shogun. While price and selection leaves much to be desired, Mr. Johns does excellent quality gunsmithy at reasonable pricing.

Galyan's was awesome. Sad day when Dick's bought them out and turned their stores into sports stores with a token outdoors section.

Beech Grove Firearms, owned by cops and ironically located directly across from the Post Office. How convenient.
Seriously, good people, good prices.

I really missed "5 Points"

When I was in High School, I used to go up to 5 Points and drool. Bought my first M1 carbine there, as well as my first Savage Model 24C.

Try to hit gun stores when I go back home for vacation. The plus side is that Indiana honors my AK CHP.

Go Purdue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, this thread has been brought back from the dead TWICE. Never seen that before :D

Whittaker's guns about 20-30 minutes across the river from Evansville. Huge inventory, and good prices last time I was there (2008).

I bought a Browning Bl .22 in South Bend, or was it Mishawaka, 35 years ago.........let me get back to you...........:uhoh:

(NE Indiana)

Ed Hirschy's Discount Guns

17929 Tonkel Rd
Auburn, IN 46706
(260) 627-3119

Inventory in the show-room is impressive and he stocks bulk ammo and reloading materials.
He doesn't have the cheapest prices, but he isn't pushy, only gives his opinion if asked, and is one of the nicest guys you'll meet.
Know going rates for firearms you are considering ahead of time.

Call ahead.
Ed is a grade A JERK. Wouldn't let me handle a LCR from under his counter, said if you're not buying you're not handling the guns. I was in his shop for 10 min total, this was my first time...I left right away never to return. I asked the guy for a price on a gun because he claimed that he could order anything, but he wouldn't tell me a price...only that he would match a price. JERK.

Dr. Sandman, Welcome to THR...sorry to hear you didn't like ZX Guns in Goshen, I've
been there once with my son an he bought some stuff an saved money...he has bought
guns from him at the shows an saved money.....maybe he deals better at the shows...?

Just to clarify for those in southern Indiana and Fort Wayne. 'Five Points' is in Lafayette IN.

Thanks for the clarification. We have a Five Points in downtown Atlanta. I can assure you, there are no gun shops in that part of town. A lot of guns, though.

Don's guns (indy)= dirty store with no helpful staff, overpriced (I mean way over priced) moderate selection

Pop Guns (Indy) = very nice place, somewhat helpful staff, pricing was moderate, limited selection

CrackShot (Anderson) = smaller store, very helpful staff, pretty good pricing and moderate selection

Bradis (SR. 67 out towards Mooresville) = decent sized store, very helpful staff, great pricing when I was in there and a pretty good selection

These are a few of the stores I've been into and Bradis was where I purchased my most recent two guns. It's also the furthest away (I'll drive the extra 30 minutes) from me so that should say something. These are my rankings from worst to best.

In Indy, I like KS&E on the east side. The inventory is small, but they will order anything and the prices are great. I was just in there and all the Glocks were ~$480. (I was recently shopping for glocks, so I know the local prices on them). I've never found anywhere less expensive for guns.

gander mountain - glock $599

Pop Guns - glock $619. Decent indoor range.

Some people love Bradis, some hate them. I don't have enough experience with them to have an opinion.

Don's is the worst place, ever. Really used guns more there than new anywhere else. Home of the $700 used glock, at least last time I looked.

+1 for Kiesler's, bought 3 guns from there over the years, all at good prices with good service.

My personal favorite little gun shop in Indiana, though, is Sand Burr Gun Ranch in Rochester. What they don't have, they can get...prices are great...and it's hard to find a better S&W action tune anywhere in the country. A shooting park on the property, too. Always a pleasure to teach there. When I had a need for a Browning Hi-Power in .30 Luger, Sand Burr was the place that came up with one for me. Gun folks steeped in gun culture.:)

McDonald's guns in Marion was pretty good on prices, and he is a knowlegeable guy. Decent selection, too.

I always stayed away from the shop in Parker City, as I felt he was pretty high.

I've got this.

Bradis on Kentucky Ave. S of Indy
Plainfield Guns on 40 in Plainfield
Cosner's in Bedford
Kiesler's in Clarksville
500 Guns on W. 16th in Indy is worth a look.
Indiana Gun Club in Fortville used to have the best selection of primer, powders and shotguns you could find.
Ditto above for Indian Creek Shooting Center in Georgetown, IN
Knob Creek Gun Range in West Point, KY
Elmore's Guns, Greenwood

I just rattled off the bigger and better ones. If you want a couple smaller shops with good prices, let me know.

AVOID DON'S GUNS, AT ALL COSTS!
