Hi Point. Because it is reliable, cheap, eats everything I've put in it from crap russian steel case to MagTech. Eats FMJ as reliably as JHP. Doubles as a hammer or a boat anchor, and ugly enough to scare off anyone who wouldn't be caught dead bragging to their buddies about being shot by one.

I also own one. +3 more points for the Hi Point :D

Also +1 for the S&W 59XX... I own the 2nd Gen 469. Also very reliable, eats everything I put through it. Very accurate, concealable as well.

I hope Hi Point wins the contest, because I want to see you post pics of your new Hi Point C9. (but if you want my opinion, get the C9 with the compensated barrel. they are even uglier.)

Buy these, heres why, I own them.

"Buy this heres why" S&W M&P compact: lighter can carry compact and has a grip extension for full mag capacity

Buy this and here's why and I own it: It is also lighter can be compact or with extension hold 19+1 rounds which is more than any other. Accessories are cheap.

Remember the 5906 is heavier and holds less rounds for me the compromise of a smaller round (9mm) over heavier rounds (45) is carrying more rounds, the 5906 does not allow that.

I like both the m&p and the springfield they are both great guns
Go to the local gun range and try them out

M&p 9.. I own one.. shoot one and bet my life that it'll protect me when I need it to.

Although, there is a 30 round mag for the S&W 5906, can't say that for the M&P.

Also, there is the preference between an all metal gun and a poly gun, and the external hammer vs. striker fired.

Walther P99AS

Walther P99 with the AS (anti-stress) trigger variant.

I own one.

Excellent Accuracy.

Outstanding ergonomics.
The grip design alone is a marvel, and after you hold this gun, it should come as no surprise that Walther contracted Morini, the maker of some of the best target and competition grips that can be made (which, of course means that they find themselves in the hands of some of the best shooters in the world).

Great trigger and operational characteristics with AS trigger system.
When in AS mode, if you pull the trigger a little bit until you feel it click, the trigger will stay there (kind of like a set trigger design found on some rifles). This puts the gun into SA mode with a very short and light trigger pull, which is how the trigger would also automatically be set if you fired a round and allowed the trigger to reset, the distance of which is shorter than that on my 1911's, if only barely so (if you sneeze, this gun just might reset on you). However, if one prefers DA mode for carry or bedside gun duty, there is a decocker button on the top left of the slide to the rear.

Designed for 9mm and weighs a mere 22 ounces.

Ambi magazine release.

Sights can be changed by removing slide and released from inside the slide instead of beating it out of the groove.
it's secured from the underside of the slide using a small hex bolt, so swapping out front sights does not require a hammer, punch and a vice (or a gunsmith) like most other common handguns these days.

Magazine interchangeable with SW99.

A very comprehensive review. Albeit somewhat aged.

.5 point for picture ;)

I can't believe more people don't recommend the Sig 226, my favorite 9mm of all time. Affordable and incredibly reliable. Pick up an older West German made gun for around $450 and go shoot!

Well, I've owned darned near every make and model to be had statestide, and my favorite for accuracy and reliability (not including the sig p210) is the CZ SP01, or SP01 Phantom.

I also like the Ruger SR-9. I paid $399.00 for it new and have about 600 rounds through it with not a single problem. It is very accurate also. This is my first Semi-auto and it has been very good to me.

there is only one choice in my opinion...Bersa Pro 9mm HC. lifetime warranty, the best $385.00 you'll ever spend on a new gun.

In my view, the G19 is too big for concealed carry.

I don't own one, but my next pistol is likely to be a Glock 26 for concealed carry.

CZ 75b

Buy at least one. Excellent shooter, fantastic feel, incredibly reliable. I own one and want another. While you're at it look at the SP-01, 97b, PCR, P-01 or any other CZ. They are all good.

Ruger P95...own one...because of superior value for the price. Reliable, accurate, durable...excellent handgun for 300.00 bucks...and would remain so, IMO, if it cost hundreds more.

Another vote for HiPoint.

For many of the same reasons as others have said.

The list of good, reliable, 9mm pistols will be as long as your arm. There will probably be someone, who will have owned each one that will tell you " I had one of those, and it was junk". I'll give you my suggestion, fwiw, I own an HK P-30 , barrel length 3.86" polygonal, vary accurate. I have thousands of rounds through it and NOT ONE failure! The grip can be configured to fit any size adult hand. It has a rail, that I use for a light/lazor when it's being used in the HD roll. With the right holster it can be used for a ccw. 15 + 1 should do the trick.

Phantomattherange.jpg

CZ SP-01 Phantom. Rugged, durable, awarded a major military contract, 18 round stock mag, can use 16 round mag, accurate, reliable, easy to shoot.

Works upside down, too.

Yes, I really shot it that way, just for grins and giggles, Didn't do too bad, either. ;)

Once we're done choosing your gun for you, do we get to pick your wife?

Can I collect wives like guns? What I mean is can I have more than one? If so, be my guest! (majority vote still applies of course :-D )

You need to decide this for yourself. We can't do it for you.

I'm enjoying this thread. And really, how bad could it get? As long as people are honest I'm not going to end up with a lemon. Within the next year I can easily see myself picking up four 9mm handguns. I'll shoot them all and if I don't like something I can sell it.

Btw, I have a wife I'm trying to get rid of for real cheap. She's been used only every now and then and I always kept her clean and well oiled. Are you interested?

Lighten up and enjoy peoples comments. I know I am.
