What is your "dream rifle"? In other words, what rifle would you build/buy if money was no object.

Mine:
-CRF Model 70 short action with 18" fluted barrel, threaded for AAC SCAR style flash suppressor. Custom AICS stock. Tuned 2.25 pound trigger. 6.8x43mm caliber, Leica ER 3-14x42 scope.

Steyr scout or id buy up every original matching numbers mauser / springfield i could get my mitts on. or both, im rich right?

I would either build my own sniper rifle or have e.r. shaw build me a mk VII in 8x57 js, 6.5 creedmoor, or 17 fireball

Maybe its the egg-nog talking, but I would take a Yugo M48, rebarreled in 7.62x51. I would contour the barrel to accept an M-14 gas block and thread it to accept the Smith Enterprise Good Iron SOCOM 16 kit. The gas block would become a cleaning kit holder. Essentially, I would make an FR-8 but with more modern components. It would be even better if I could make one on a Mauser action without having to beat up an actual M48.

holland and holland double rifle with two really, really big bores

or a GE minigun

Eddystone 1917 receiver built into a 375 H&H sporting a Shilen barrel with custom high figure Calif manzinita stock, conetrol rings - all with outline engraving and slow rust blued. Add a Schmidt & Bender fixed 4x Hunter. and you are ready to go :)

If I had it built, probably $10K or there abouts.

For more every day work, I'd like a Savage Model 99 take down in 300 Savage with a Doug Turnbull restoration, a lined hard case and an assortment of premium ammo - maybe 500 rounds :)

If it came my way and I had the work done, maybe another $8K or so?

I'm building it now...its nothing dramatic.

The base rifle is a new Winchester Model 70 Ultimate Shadow in 30-06, and the only thing I plan on changing is the stock.

I've been searching most of my adult life for "the" hunting rifle for me...I found it a while back when a friend let me shoot his M70.

Its just a hunting rifle, but is quickly working its way up to being a trusted old friend.

I'd take that new Ruger Scout and make it a full size rifle. Then convert it to accept M1A magazines. Then make it semi auto.
Wait a minute...:scrutiny:

Actually a nice Custom M1A, with a Krieger barrel. A an Ultimak scope mount with a nice Shepherd scope would rock the top and maybe a good solid bipod attachment.

I would love to get after a pack of Coyotes with a SAW in the Arizona desert.

This. However, a more realistic goal for me would be a custom commercial Mauser in something like a .416 Rigby, hand engraved with a beautiful stock, express sights, ect.

I have two

tactical = FNH scar SBR in 300 AAC Blackout with an acog and a surpressor

historical = Mauser C96 schellfeuer full auto in 100% condition
