Dream Rifle...

Already have a Garand, and thats pretty close. I would like a left-hand mauser action, full mannlitcher(SP) stock with express sights, 3X9 variable, in 7X57. Already have a Ruger #1 RSI in 7X57. With 180gr loads she is a tack driver staying at or under an inch at 100yds.

Lever Action (just something about them), I have a marlin 1894 in .357 mag, going to put on a big loop lever on it from Wild West and then Hard Chrome, my perfect all weather ranch rifle.

I'm not too specific here.

I want a bolt action rifle (any manufacture will do), in .308, with a detachable magazine, that accepts M1A/M14 mags. My only stipulation is that it must shoot off the shelf (Fed. Gold Medal) ammo into 1/4 MOA groups, and cost about the same as a surplus Mosin-Nagant.

If someone would build it, for that price point, I'd buy (at least) 10 of them. Heck if someone built it for the cost of an M1A, I'd buy one of them.

Wyman

ETA- It MUST have a "Set Trigger". Single or double will do. I just love measuring trigger pull in tenths of an ounce.

the Space Commander

rubberbandguns.com says:

"What the heck is a Space Commander? He's a marine that lives in space, that's what! And this is his rifle, a solid 12-shot rifle with cool detailing and devastating firepower. Space is safe when you defend it with this rifle in hand!"

the website has me sold

Something like LWRC makes.

M16 style rifle
Semi, 3rd burst, full auto
Gas piston upper
Railed forend
6.8mm
Adjustable stock
Cold hammer forged barrel
SBR - probably 10.5"
Flip up BUIS front and rear
Some type of red dot sight with optional magnification
Vertical foregrip
A dozen mags that work like those Cammenga EasyMags
A room full of ammo

An M1 Abrams would be cool too...

I want a semi-auto rifle that can shoot tiny cartridges that have the trajectory of a .220 Swift, the energy of a 460 Weatherby, and the recoil of a .22LR. Accuracy must be 1/4 minute out to 1,000 yards. Magazine capacity must vary from 1 to 200 rounds.

The rifle must also be trouble free for 50 years of hard use. It must be completely self-cleaning and rust-proof. The scope must zoom from 1 to 40x and be automatically compensating for range/trajectory. There must also be an infrared detector to find game or bad guys.

The rifle must weigh 6 pounds and be no longer than 36 inches.

Cost must be under $100, but I'll go an extra $25 for the scope.

Okay. Isn't that what we all want? Welcome to fantasy land. Everything else is compromise. How much are you willing to compromise?

Depends on the day you ask me. Today it's a custom varmint rifle built on a Martini action, with some kind of vintage target scope (Unertl maybe?) and super dooper fancy walnut stock.

Not long ago I was lusting after a custom flintlock long rifle. I think I have rifle ADD.

My Smith and Corona project finished.

30-06, bull barrel, nice target stock, harris bipod, nice scope, trigger job, and maybe a refinish job to.

Edit: o ya cant forget the AAC can.

I'd like a magazine fed .357 magnum 16" carbine. Might be more practical to use a 20rd drum though.

I have a couple of Accuracy International clones that meet glockman19 and 1911 guy's requirements but I'd REALLY like to have the "real thing" from AI in .338 Lapua ...

I'd also like something along the lines of a Marlin 1895 in .308 Winchester with a synthetic pistol grip stock, fluted, free-floating 20" barrel, detachable box magazine, adjustable Jewell trigger, an integral Picatinny rail extending 6" forward of the receiver above the barrel and the whole thing in stainless but coated with Black TriNyte®.

For a general-purpose rifle, I'd like a 1917 actioned, 24" barrel 7mm Remington Magnum. Peep sight, of course. Hell, might as well get a version in .35 Whelen, and another in .416 Rigby, and I'll be set to hunt the planet, or choose one of the first two for a survival arm good for any environment.

That AI AWSM is sharp....but I could get much more use out of a super accurate .30-06 built on a Ruger M77 action. Make it stainless with a carbon stock. 6.5lbs with scope. Maybe the stock is hollow and holds a compact cleaning kit, 3 extra rounds of ammo, and a small knife. While we are dreaming,.....how about a M2HB and a Hummer full of ammo.

An earlier Winchester 1894, say teens to 20's production, 20" light profile round barrel rifle, takedown, straight grip, extra high grade wood, checkered, full magazine, Lyman No 38 reciever sight, shotgun butt with checkered steel buttplate, eyes for the Winchester sling, in .30 WCF cal. May as well have it engraved, with a couple gold bands on the barrel at the reciever end, and some gold highlights in the engraving.

OK, lets have another complete matching front end in 38-55 cal fitted.

And, a forward mounted scope setup on the 30 WCF barrel with quick detach rings, and very low profile bases. That should about do it.

Another, fairly easy to do dream rifle is a 17" barreled Mini-Mauser carbine in 9x23mm Winchester. :)

Stiller Viper action
Broughton barrel, 24" #8 contour, 6.5x47 L
Mcmillan A5 stock w/ integrated cheek riser
Jewell trigger
Nightforce scope
and all the little goodies that go into making it a repeater, with extra mags.

If not that, a rifle that i have designed, very similar to the walther WA2000........really fun LR shooting:evil:

It's actually inferior to .260 ballistically, no?

IIRC, it beats it by 50-100fps on average.

While most of my cash is tied up in building guns for others right now, my next pet will be a Lawton 7000-s action in .338 WSSM with 20 inch barrel (I love my Lilja .264, but might give Lawton a whirl with his barrels). Jewel Trigger, FIDDLEBACK black walnut stock, thinned as much as I dare. Blind magazine to save weight. Action is only 26 ounces! Probably a light 2-7 or 3-9X scope with 33-35mm objective.
Festive little elk gun.

hard to choose...

AR-15 with a 7.62x39 upper and a Leupold prismatic 1x sight.

SxS combination gun, top two barrels in 22 hornet, bottom barrel in .410.
