    Mossberg ATR or Stevens or...

I would recommend the Stevens 200 over the Remington 710 or the ATR hands down. Just a superior rifle IMHO. Good accuracy and a good price. If he is going to scope it, there's no need for irons. Too many people get hung up on that "Well if your scope breaks, you're out of luck." True, but I...

    .17 HMR??

What you want is a .22 with CCI "CB" shorts from Wal-Mart. Thank me later.

    Integral locks: good or bad?

Without a doubt the single most idiotic thing that has ever happened to the handgun community. I mean 10 round mags are disgusting, but at least they don't have the potential of rendering the gun useless. Unfortunately, we live in Liberal Soccer Mom USA and it will get worse before it gets better.

    Is It Worth It?

I wouldn't buy one for $150. Nice deal on the Marlin.

First time at a gun show (MN)

Alright. Now you know where to get poor deals on beef jerky, wizard figurines, native american t-shirts, swords with lightning shaped blades, and corroded partial boxes of ammo for twice the price of a new box of ammo! :D You never know, you may find some deals.

    22 Mag or 17 HMR

Ruger makes both. The 10/22 Mag and the 10/17. Remington makes a 597 semi auto .17, but avoid it (Jam-O-Matic).

    .223 Bolt Gun

Savage 10FP Love mine. It shoots better than I can. I have shot several 1/4-1/2" groups at 100 yards with factory Black Hills 68 gr. HPs. Get it, shoot it, love it.

    Taurus' new PT1911

I handled one the other day. It was a blued version and the STICKER price was $450. When they say it is fully loaded, they mean it. Good sights, ambi safety. Pretty nice gun really. I would like to see what one can do at the range.

    S&W M&P15

It's all been downhill since internal lock handguns. I heard from several AR buffs that they are poor in the fit and finish dept.

    Cylinder Alignment Worries.

If the cylnider positively locks after rotating, I don't think you have any problems. Dropping a revolver is no biggie in most cases. No sweat, my man.
