If wardrobe for the day allows then I carry my G19. If the Glock won't do for whatever reason then it's the Taurus TCP (.380)

Interestingly enough I've found that I actually carry far less often since moving to New Orleans than I did when I lived in a small Mississippi city.

My duty gun is a .40 S&W and that is the caliber I carry the most. Off duty, I carry a .380ACP the most, a GLOCK 42.
I would carry a 9m.m. as a duty gun, if my agency ever allows it. I am not enamored of the .40 S&W. I used to carry a BERETTA 96D Brigadier as an issue weapon with the 155 grain high velocity ammo and I thought that justified a bigger gun and caliber, but the mid velocity does not impress me.

I guess I'm not with all of you youngsters. About half the time I'm carrying around the farm and doing chores or just relaxing. My carry gun for those weeks is a .22 (mostly a walther PPK/s old model). The 380 is for every other week and I'm back and forth to work

Normal = most of the time, is an older Browning HP with the mag safety removed & an Inglis mag because it holds 14 rds.
The rest of the time it is a PA 63 in 9mm Makerov.

9mm. Most of the time a Kahr K9 since concealment is a priority at work. When concealment isn't much of a concern, I usually carry my Glock 19 or 9mm Spartan.

I carried .45 for years, but mainly because I prefer 1911s and that's the most common caliber for the flatform.

1st ... .380 ACP in Ruger LCP
2nd ... 357 SIG in a Glock 31
3rd ... .357 Magnum in a Ruger Security Six
4th ... .44 Magnum in a S&W 629

All depending on where or what I plan to do that day....

Lately I'm split pretty evenly between 357 SIG (tiny G33 for long drives to the office) and .45 ACP (G30 which gets more comfortable as I lose weight). I may go to 9mm more often, though, because I'm really getting to love my CZs.

And, it's always good to have options (for guns and ammo), 357 SIG was generally available during the ammo panics, .40 is getting cheaper as it loses favor with LE agencies. .38 and .357 for SHTF is easy to reload to a wide variety of specs, shoots from reliable revolvers and lever guns. .44Mag and 10mm for when every shot needs to count. And 9mm is the absolute king for normal availability, variety, price, price/performance, capacity, etc.

My favorite rimless cartridge is .40 S&W, but I no doubt carry a .380 more frequently.

That said, I also regularly carry .357 mag and .44 spl.

Glock 23 in the city, Glock 34 in the country, so .40 pretty much all the time.

You guys still going? :)

Although I originally opined I'd probably split my most common preference between .38 & .380, why not just add .38 Spl to the poll list, and then add an "all of the above" option, and I'd check "all of the above"?

However, I'm going to reinsert .357 Magnum back into my normal carry options. I used it for training & quals, and simple range fun shooting, but I was no longer carrying as often once I semi-retired m y steel .357 revolvers. Recently, I decided to add a couple new holsters for my older Ruger Service-Six 4" HB (as my IWB days are behind me), and put it back in carry service as a retirement weapon. While I've used my .44's at the range, and have even run them through various quals & drills to demonstrate to younger (post-revolver day) cops that it could be done, I can't remember the last time I was carrying one as an off-duty weapon. The Magnum loads were somewhat a little "too much" for urban use, even though it was an approved duty caliber when I was a young cop, but now that I'm living in a mountain community I might keep them dusted off for occasional use, depending on the anticipated circumstances. Maybe.

In all fairness, however, in deference to Poohgyrr, perhaps the "new" updated option list needs to include the step-child .357SIG, too. :p

9mm with .45 at a very close second. If I could find something in .45 that I love as much as my Glock 19, then I would probably only carry .45, but I haven't found anything. Even the other Glocks don't come close with my 19.
