I don’t want to turn this into a crazy political thread, but I think it’s very important to hear what these candidates have to say about guns right from their mouths and I think people should tune in to hear it for themselves.

So much for “sensible”, they floated some CRAZY ideas! Like Forced federal government buybacks, and mandatory biometric sensors built into guns.

Nuts!

Also every candidate talked about “defeating the NRA”, but funny... the BILL OF RIGHTS never came up.

Left media (forgot which one) put out a description of the debates and said that the clear winner was Donald Trump. I like it.

Was there anything specific to guns?

At 1:30 minute mark of video, a question was posed to the candidates, "Is there a federal government's role to take guns off the streets?"

Watch the technical difficulty that follows (They had to cut to a commercial).

Eric Swalwell, Senator Bernie Sanders Debate Gun Control, Weapons Buy Backs - "We can take most dangerous weapons":eek::eek:

Swalwell calls NRA "the enemy" after 2020 Democratic debate

Yes, there were gun questions on each night. Eric Swalwell, of course, was the most extreme gun confiscator. He would confiscate (the word is "mandatory buyback") all so-called "assault weapons."

Many of the others would grandfather existing guns. Elizabeth Warren tried to draw a distinction between newly-introduced assault weapons in communities (which she would ban) and those held by long-time collectors. She didn't think collectors were a public threat. Beto O'Rourke would ban commercial sales of assault weapons but would allow current owners to continue to own and use them "safely and responsibly." Kamala Harris would ban imports of assault weapons. Cory Booker wanted to institute a nationwide license-to-purchase for all guns. There seemed to be unanimity on (a) universal background checks, and (b) doing something on assault weapons.

All I can say is vote wisely in 2020 if you want to support gun rights and the Second Amendment not just for you but for your children and your grandchildren.

Depending on who wins the 2020 election, you could be having very different talks with your children/grandchildren 10-20 years from now.

"Look < Insert Name >, this was the year that the SCOTUS started ruling in support of gun rights and 2A which allowed you to have all these guns. I have enjoyed them and hope you enjoy them as well and pass them unto your children ... smile/laughter/hugs"

or

"Look < Insert Name >, this was the year gun laws really started to change for the worse and I am not able to leave you most of my guns for you to enjoy. I am so sorry. Help me pack up the guns to take to the gun buyback ... sniff/tears"

Cory On Guns from First Democratic Debate - "I am tired of thoughts and prayers ... It's time for bold actions and bold agenda ... this is personal"

"YOU NEED A LICENSE TO BUY A FIREARM":eek::eek:

Cory Booker: Majority Of Americans Agree With Me On Common Sense Gun Control - "We don't need guns"

REALLY??? Talk to people in most cities with high crime ... Good grief, somebody bumped their head ... Bless his heart.

I would like to politely remind you THR is a GUN FORUM where our focus is kinda centered around gun rights and gun stuff. ;)

Don't they have forums for discussing your non-gun interests and agendas?

From THR "Terms and Rules" - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?pages/code-of-conduct/
1. All topics and posts must be related to firearms or 'Right to Keep and Bear Arms' (RKBA) issues.

I'm certainly not going to vote for Trump. If the Democrats get too far out of line on guns, I'll end up not voting for anybody -- just as I did in 2016. But the way things stand now, most any Democrat except Eric Swalwell would be preferable to Trump.
If you don’t think the Democrats have gone too far on guns why are you on the gun forums? They want all of the guns. I guess vote for Pedro.

Watching the debate reminded me of the importance of the NRA. While I would like to see reforms in the NRA, without them gun owners are screwed.

Almost every candidate gloated about how the NRA is on the ropes and defeated so now they can ban all they want.

If they ban semi automatic rifles, as they ALL clearly say the intend to do, the 2A as it was intended is dead.

It is interesting to see that all the Democrat candidates have one common goal. To take away all guns. And every single one of them is on fire with the NRA. Why? The NRA is the Stronghold and Fortress of the 2nd amendment. Once they crush the NRA the backbone of the 2nd amendment will totally crumble. You will continue to hear them the say over and over NRA, NRA, NRA.

And then you have to give it to the Democrats, they are playing their side of the Game Brilliantly. I mean some of the best political strategies I have ever seen. What they have done is created a huge and powerful "Wedge". And that Wedge is Wayne L. Now while many gun enthusiast focus on Wayne and other nonsense, they can come right up the middle and destroy the NRA, which will in turn destroy the 2nd amendment which will then win their Party at election. BRILLIANT!

Also many people that claim to be pro Gun rights, can use the NRA as a subterfuge to advance their Political party, which is Democrat or Libertarian. On one side of their mouth, they claim to be Pro 2nd Amendment, the other side of their mouth they are bashing the NRA. Which is actually just a way of voicing against the Republican party and beating it.

What savvy Brilliance! They now have developed two weapons to use the NRA to win for their Parties. It is not hard to understand that the "Vast Majority that are Constantly bashing the NRA, will not be voting Republican at the Voting Booth. And the Bashing of the NRA by gun owners is music to every Democrat and Libertarian in the playing field.
The likes of Corey Booker and Friends have Friends right smack in the Pro 2nd amendment CAMP. Using them and their voice against the NRA to destroy from within.

Rifles are only the opening gambit. The next step is handguns. The ultimate goal is an absolute governmental monopoly on the means of armed force, with them in complete control of the government, FOREVER. Their parallel attacks on the First Amendment only serve to emphasize this.

The ONLY reason to vote for ANY of them is because you WANT confiscation, because that's what EVERY one of them wants.

What bothered me most wasn't any of the candidate responses: I knew they were all gun-grabbing commies. What bothered me was how Chuck Todd phrased the question about "what are you going to do to get the hundreds of millions other guns off the street?" as if every gun in private hands is a problem that needs taken care of immediately. "Other" in this case being the guns besides the already universally-reviled 'assault weapons' that any clear-thinking person would already have banned.

Chuck Todd thinks ALL guns are bad and that politicians have a duty to somehow remove them from your hands.

I have not the slightest doubt that Chuck Todd DOES think that's a problem that needs to be taken care of immediately, and regardless of the cost in innocent human lives. Of course that would also kill a lot of people who oppose other things they want to impose by force. Doubtless they consider that a feature, not a bug.

It's those clip things that are the problem, you can load too many of them at one time into a gun.

One of them said there were 40K gun deaths a year, why let the facts get in the way of a good talking point.

It's the assault weapons that are the main problem, they kill hundreds of people a year, as opposed to handguns which do tens of thousands. But assault weapon has a nice ring to it.

So many experts were on stage the last two nights, who know all the answers.

I did not watch and that may mean I will be somewhat ignorant of what was said at the debates. I just could not bring myself to watch the clown show. Whenever I see clowns I think of the terrible b movie "Killer Clowns from outer space" and the people in the debates are just that to me.
If they are to get their way., Our way of life will become a horror show!!!
