Sig Sauer P365 for concealed carry

I have been looking for a shoulder holster for a P365. Does anyone use one for concealed carry? What is your opinion of the holster?

How's the XL? Does it carry as well?
Yes, absolutely. I am really, really close to declaring the XL as my favorite all-time carry pistol -- and not a conclusion I arrived at easily. I've been prejudiced against striker-fired pistols for, like, forever, came up and 1911s and then switched over to DA/SA (when working the streets, the long DA pull for threat management was a big factor). Been issued a plastic striker pistol for about the last fourteen years, but the 365's combined so many pluses and pros, that it's been hard to ignore. The extra half-inch doesn't affect concealability, the flush-fit 12-round mags are reliable, and a 15-round spare should be all I need.

I guess I just don't get the point of the XL...

My regular P365 with the 12-round magazines has the same amount of grip as the XL, but I don't have that extra half-inch of slide and barrel to add weight and mass.

The recoil and shootability of the P365 is excellent, so why add the extra length and weight to a carry pistol?

I've seen people order the $35 XL frame and then use the regular P365 slide, so you get the extra grip, ability to use 15-round mags, without the extra weight and length, and that makes sense. But, then you can't simply insert a 10-round mag and then have a pocket gun.

The P365 was groundbreaking in that it offered increased capacity in a minimal size while maintaining shootability. Making it bigger seems counter intuitive.

Not trying to be argumentative; I just don't get it.

I've carried a Kahr PM9 since they came out. I came to love and trust the long DA pull and I like that gun a lot. But, I walked into a gun shop and put it physically against a P365 and was astounded that they were practically the same. I feel bad that I've relegated my Kahr to secondary status (guns do have feelings you know), but that's the way she goes!

One of my son-in-laws carries a P320X which I may steal from him. But, the P365XL may be a better answer.

I have a P365, couldn't be happier with it, comfortable on the hip, & fits well in pocket for full conceal.
(I'm too dam fat to carry IWB)

Maguts mag conversion kits change P365 10 round mags to 12 and 12 round mag to 14 and improve grip. Makes it easier to load those tough last rounds into the mag too.

I got a P365 and then made the mistake of letting my wife shoot it. She likes it and has made it her own. Its a bear to load the mags without a mag loader. Other than that I can't think of why someone would want anything else.

I got a 365 soon after they came out. Loved it then and still do. I put a Hogue slip-on over the grip, and carry it with the 12rd mag. I tried different holsters, and have settled on the Wright Leather Works Cruiser IWB holster. Very well built and very comfortable.
Also have a SA Hellcat, same size as 365 and shoots well too.

1. Absolutely love the gun. Zero issues. Perfect reliability. Accurate. Best ergonomics of any "micro" sized autoloader ever produced. Shoots like a much larger pistol. Terrific sights. Superb trigger.
2. No, it's not a decent concealed carry gun; it's the perfect concealed carry gun.
3. You gotta be kidding. How about "no?"

Agreed.

I have the P365XL. I chose it over the P365 due to several points. Like I mostly holster carry and the XL was a better fit for my needs. Also the XL grip module felt like it was made for me. I also liked the slightly longer slide for Velocity, and reportedly more controllable faster follow up shots.

The P365 with the 10 round mag is amazingly small. Like pocket carry small. The P365 will be a carry gun for the history books. Due to its size and shoot ability I hate to use the term "Game Changer" however it truly is in a class of its own.

Well, this thread was from last year, but might as well throw in that I was an early P365 adopter but then later sold it for P365XL. I think the XL is the best small concealed-carry gun, and the only thing the P365 is better at is pocket carry if that is your choice. But if you always belt carry, then the XL is better.

I migrated through revolvers, 1911s, lc9s,
Kahrs, and finally wound up with a Sig P365 with a safety.

I finally found the EDC I have been looking for for over 20 years.

Hogue grip sleeve specifically for the P365 best fit in my hand in 50 years of concealed carry.

Twelve round mags and a OWB holster for every day and the 10 round mag for pocket carry when necessary.

I’m done buying guns. I’ve got the one I need.

Exactly how I feel and what I have done.

I love my P365. It eats what I feed it. And even though it is compact the gun feels very much like shooting a full-sized service pistol.

it is a bit big for pocket carry for me, though. I prefer OWB or IWB on a good belt.

Same for me, I 'found' Hanks belts earlier this year and their carry belts are amazing, and made in USA.

I bought a P365 in October 2020. I didn't like the squishy grip feel with the 12 rd magazine, it sometimes pinched my hand, and my hand got in the way of magazine swaps. So I installed the taller XL grip module. It felt solid in my hand, no pinching, and no issues with my hand interfering with magazine swaps. I can do the grip module swap in less than 30 seconds.

I installed the MagGuts 14 rd spring kit. I didn't like the way the front of the magazine floor plate stuck out so I wet sanded it until it was nicely rounded. I also rounded the rear lower edge of the grip module. My P365X now fits my XL sized hands like a glove. The sanding was easy. Just a bit of minor tailoring to make it fit my hand better.

The web of my hand sometimes hung up on the beavertail during the draw from my holster. So I wet sanded the corners of the beavertail to round them just a bit and now my hand no longer hangs up on the beavertail. Again, a very easy modification.

I didn't like they way I had to rotate the pistol in my hand to actuate the magazine release button. I extended the button and now I don't need to change my grip to actuate the magazine release button. Yet with my XL hands, there is no way to accidentally actuate the magazine release button. I did need to make a slight modification to my holster to clear the extended magazine release button. FYI, other pistols have a stock magazine button just as high as the extended release button on my P365X. Swapping the magazine release button is relatively easy. There are videos online to show you how to do it.

The P365X felt floppy in my hand when the magazine was near empty. I took an impression of a cavity inside the rear of the grip module, made a mold from the impression, and made a 1.5 oz lead casting. I trimmed the lead casting and glued it into the recess inside the handgrip with JB Weld Plastic Welder, which is a 2 part urethane glue. The floppiness when near empty is gone and it seems like it took the edge off of the recoil when near empty. But this is much more difficult and should be left to someone with more advanced mechanical skills.

I did some internal polishing and the trigger is now very smooth. The polishing should be reserved for people with advanced mechanical skills. I'm keeping the curved trigger because it has more room for a gloved finger than the straight XL trigger.

I'm still working on the best carry method for me while I ride my bicycle, which I use for 95% of my transportation.. But it looks like I should be able to use the longer P365XL. I would prefer to use the P365XL because of it's higher muzzle velocity. It is also supposed to have slightly less recoil and muzzle flip. I may install the longer P365XL slide and barrel this next summer.

If I had it to do over, I would have purchased a P365XL and then installed the curved trigger. But at the time P365XLs were nearly unavailable, so I bought a P365.

For now the P365X gives me the warm fuzzies. I shoot well it it. I have a 14+1 rd capacity. And it is still small enough to be concealable. So I'm a happy camper.
