LCP MAX

Got my LCP Max a couple of weeks ago. This is my 3rd LCP. I use to have a custom and I still have a LCP II. Out of the three the Max is the best. Even with a 12 round mag I can draw from jeans shorts easily. It's reliable with better sights, what's not to like. I pocket carry it loaded and cocked with a Desantis pocket holster.

Finally got one, have not shot it yet. Pleasantly surprised that it fits all of my gen one LCP holsters. Two kydex iwbs, leather owb and pocket holster (although just barely).
It's thinner than my gen one with a Hogue sleeve. The little bit of extra thickness in the grip over the gen one is appreciated and I don't think I'll be needing a grip sleeve on the Max.

Has anybody found a good OWB double mag pouch for the LCP Max?

eBay has 3D printed single mag holders for cheap but I'd really like a good leather double mag pouch.

Try Andrews Custom Leather. They are doing a shoulder holster for me. Going to having them do a double mag pouch for my G42 mags too. Nice guy, and very nice work.

Finally got to the range today.
50 Speer Lawman 90gr rn and 39 Precision One XTP JHPs.

Function, perfect. No malfunctions and the slide locked back on every empty mag. I shot some dominant hand only and no problems.

Accuracy was ok, I shot standing off hand. Shot about twenty on the move. I have done much better with my gen one LCP but I have thousands of trigger presses on that gun. I was mostly vertical stringing. A combination of sight alignment and not being used to the trigger and grip. I used both the standard mag and extended mag.

Speed, 5 yards, 5 shots in one second into the zero down of an IDPA target. Longest split was .25, shortest .22.

At around the forty round mark I noticed a blister on my trigger finger. The tip of the trigger looks to be catching the edge of my finger.

Note: I have had cataract surgery done on both eyes since I last was at the range. I shot mostly without readers today to see if I can do it. The targets were much clearer, my sights a little less clear but good enough for close work. Cataract replacement is wonderful thing.

Ive been happy with mine so far. I also have the LCP II in .22, best small .22 of the many Ive tried. Had 2 original LCPs, they were not reliable.

So we’ll see. Max has been accurate and reliable using 10 rd. mags (I’ve no use for the 12s), mixed ammo and distances to 75 yds. It is quite comfortable to hold abd shoot for a small/light .380, but extended shooting makes my trigger finger sore from rubbing on bottom of thr trigger guard. Excellent sights, finally!

Loaded wt is 14 oz., v. 22 oz for loaded P365. The Max is pocketable in most cases but won’t replace Kel-Tecs when only the smallest and lightest will do.

Still, overall as a general purpose pocket pistol it looks very good.

I too was leery of carrying my gen 1 LCP. I use this pocket holster in warm weather with complete confidence.

I'm trying out the Max with the included pocket holster. Like others have said, it wants stay with the gun unlike the Superfly I use with the older LCP. I don't like they way the Max fits into that Superfly, the trigger is not covered well enough for my liking.

The Ruger pocket holster works fine if I hook the holster on the way out of the pocket. I just have to build that into muscle memory. I like that the Ruger pocket holster is light weight and soft. It's comfortable in the pocket.

The Superfly is stiffer and I can use my middle finger to kick it loose and the older LCP just comes free nice and easy. But that doesn't work as well with Ruger pocket holster.

Same gun, same holster here. I noticed that, too, and also that the towering rear sight was what was keeping the gun from going in far enough. Canting the pistol at a slight angle when holstering, allowing the sight to slip in, fixed that for me.

The holster that came with the pistol was a no-go from the start. It might be the same one for the original LCP. It holds my Kel-Tec P32 (which was riding in the DeSantis before) nicely. Even my Taurus TCP is tight in that one.

Update on the LCP Max, mine does not feed Winchester Defend .380 JHP ammo, especially from a full or nearly full magazine.

These have a large open hollow point and they hang on the 'curled' feed ramp of the Ruger Max. Giving the slide a sharp whack usually feeds them but this isn't an acceptable practice.

These are the only HP cartridges I've tried. If anyone else has a different result with them, or has used other HP ammo without problem I'd like to know.

I had no problem with Precision One JHPs.
They use the Hornady 90gr XTP JHP. There are a few brands that use the same XTP bullet.
The Hornady round that is not FTX (critical duty?) uses that bullet.
Look up Shooting the Bull 380 ammo tests on YouTube he shows a few brands that use the XTP.

This is a little embarrassing, I was digging through boxes of old holsters and mag pouches and came across a Don Hume D421 Single stack "A" that works.
It is not new and has some wear (but not much) which may be why it works.

Mine ran those fine. They now make up the first five rounds in each magazine's load, as well as the chambered round. The remaining rounds in each magazine (one 10-rounder, two 12-rounders) are the same company's "Train" rounds, which are flat-tipped FMJ.

Has anyone with a 380 max done any accuracy testing, with various loads, off sandbags, like at 25 yards?
