As some of you may know (I'm just occasional lurker here) my family want to make a move to USA in the future. There is a lot of factors behind our decision. Today, however, I want to pay your attention to the one of them – the best suited for this forum.
I want to share with you my own observations about the RKBA for the law-abiding citizens. I have a little bit different perspective than most of you, so I hope you will find it interesting.
I don’t want to put here too many examples from my own life, but some of my experiences will be very useful to highlight the main purpose of this letter.
Everyone of us is sometimes a little bit lazy and not always we are ready for one more step in the right direction. One more step in the name of our freedom and in the defence of our own rights.
So often we can’t realize that small concession from the wall of our rights will lead us to the collapsing in near future. It’s the straight way for losing the chance for our grandchildren – the chance for free and undisturbed decision about their safety and safety of their families.
15 years ago I was in the middle of communistic paradise. Now you can hear my voice from independent Poland. Independent, but not as free as it should be.
My country so hard experienced by the history didn’t do anything (like for example Finland) to increase safety of our borders and citizens by securing the right to keep the arms.
I’m from the family where people lived from the work of their hands. Thanks to them I finished good studies here. Like every man in the family I was in Army. It wasn’t for too long, but long enough to became reserve officer.
Because of the health problems I finished my service and retired.
Some time ago I started my own business and one of every-day activities in my work is money transport from point A to point B. The same hours and route in the dangerous neighborhood. Nearly every bank, post office and gas station in the area was robbed by the gunmen.
I consider myself as a responsible man who never broke any law and always paid the taxes. I was sure I would receive my gun license without any problems, but I was wrong.
I passed all mental and physical tests required for application.
Police refused it and gave me following reasons:
1. „you have not been attacked yet" (!!!),
2. „your application was insufficiently motivatedâ€,
3. „you are not in danger, because the police will protect youâ€.
I don’t know, maybe I could have better chances for the license as a dead victim of violent crime?
I’m not sure about it and I don’t want to check out such possibility, but I know one thing. It’s a "normal" practice here.
In Poland the right to keep arms is reserved and divided between police, prosecutors, judges and politicians. They are well armed and often secured by a large number of bodyguards with automatic weapon. They are safe.
They gave us in the past some hope – one gun in every house to secure family and property. They kept that word. How?
We can have without a license a black-powder gun made before 1850 or modern replica of such weapon...
Isn’t it great?
They used the double standards here. With Glocks, Sigs, Berettas in their holsters they made such parody law for us.
Communism destroyed humans' minds here for many generations – now and in the future our government will know better than me what is good for me and my own security. What is even more strange – it’s a popular way of thinking all around Europe.
The second large and well armed group here are criminals – no doubt here. They shooting at law-abiding citizens without hesitation and any fear of danger. They know well – there will be no armed opposition.
Some citizens in desperate act of insubordination are armed illegaly (especially in the countryside) – just in case. Such practice is furiously persecuted by police and courts.
So, what choice we have here? We can gently wait for the fast death from BG’s hands or we can make a move to the country where government respecting the right of the citizens for self-defense. I prefer the second option and I want to pay my taxes is such place.
As soon as possible I will join NRA.
Now, if you can understand in how comfortable situation you are, don’t be too optimistic.
Perfect example for you is Great Britain twenty years ago.
England started banning registered semi-auto and pump long guns from the homes of licensed gun owners. How it finished? I’m sure you know.
There is only one force in the nation between that vision and continued freedom. That force is you!
Banning of some of your rights now will lead you into the corrosion of your Constitution in the future.
I strongly belive that you all should support the NRA before it will be too late.
I also belive that my dream of living in real free country came from my Americans friends.
There is also one more thing that’s waiting for me over there. Good, old 1911 from my freedom-loving friend from Texas. When I will take this gun in my hand I will not let anyone to put their hands on my right to keep it.
Sorry for my English, but I'm still working on it
Best regards,
Adam
