I’m not sure if I’m correct but I was under the impression that Hodgden didn’t make powder they bought powders from other manufacturers (US and abroad) and put their label on them.
I think Alliant manufacturers all of their powders here in the US, I wonder I that has something to do with the...
What shape bullets are you using?
I find that I have a harder time seating truncated cone style bullets straight, SWC’s are the easiest and round nose next for me.
Why?
I’ve been reloading 45acp since the early 90’s and never cleaned or reamed a primer pocket.
I’ve also never encountered a crimp 45acp case, what headstamp do you have that is crimped?
The standard measurement quoted on the Bullseye Forum is .920 from base to shoulder, they will also crimp down as low as .463 sometimes which many people say is too much.
These are shooters wanting 100% reliability and getting 1.5-2 inch groups at 50 yards, so I pay attention.
I load every SWC the same, my seating stem seats off of the shoulder.
I can change from a 200gr SWC to an 160gr button nose and everything in between and they all seat to 1/16 of the shoulder showing.
Ok, I agree with what others have said, it should be seated deeper.
You should seat it so there is only about a 1/16 of an inch of what you are calling the driving band above the case mouth, most people will say a thumb nails amount.
Is this just a show and tell or are you wondering why?
Shape of the ACME bullet probably is hitting the rifling on the Brown and Les Baer barrels and will need to be seated deeper.
New and wet tumbled brass that is as clean as new will cause the expander die to stick in the case, Dillon even has a note about it in the 550 manual on page 12.
“Be aware that new brass will often “stick” on the powder funnel or cause resistance on the upstroke.”
I submitted two form 1’s on 2/10 sent the fingerprints the same day with tracking.
Per the tracking both sets of fingerprints were received on the same day and one of my form 1’s was approved on 4/11 the second one was denied on 5/26 due to no fingerprints.
I had to reapply on 5/26 for the...
