    Springfield XD vs Glock

I wonder if the XD lives up to Glock's standards. Share your experiences. What about quality, accuracy, reliability of the XD? Is the guide rod and mags made of polymer on the XD? How does the XD trigger compare to glock?

The 9mm is the thinking man's caliber.

Joules is a measure of work, when applied to a unit of time it is power. Energy is the amount of work needed to cause change. Correct, I have supplied momentum. It is not power, but more important. Although the two have similar "power" their momentums differ significantly, which determins...

The 9mm is the thinking man's caliber.

    These are momentums: 9mm: 115 gr pushed at 1,200 fps = 138 45ACP: 230 gr pushed at 880 fps = 202.4

Power is the amount of work per unit of time.

The 9mm is the thinking man's caliber.

Actually at those numbers, you would have power just barely more than a standard 9mm. (115 gr. @ 1,200fps) which is significantly weaker than a 45 ACP 230 grain @ 850 fps. It may be paper talk, but bullets apply to it and so does physics.

The 9mm is the thinking man's caliber.

Momentum, mass and velocity are directly related. This applies to bullets also. A 9mm+P 115 GR. projectile going 1350 FPS does not even come close to the power or momentum of a 45ACP 230 GR. Projectile going 880 FPS. How well does a 9mm keep it's momentum? :D The 9mm going through...

    Internal lock removal?

Can gunsmiths COMPLETELY 100% remove the internal locking system in revolvers? How much would such a job cost? Is it legal? Do they even offer that service? Just wondering.

What purpose does that opening in the slide serve?

Shooting 38's out of a 357 Mag Revolver.

Pros and cons would be nice. Are the 38's less accurate out of 357 mag revolvers? Thats my main concern. There must be some advantage from 38 only revolvers. I'm thinking about a 6 incher 686P, if that matters.

    Most Reliable 45ACP autoloader?

Thanks for all the replies. Now i'm torn between the Ruger P90 and the Sig P220 ST. They both have high reliability, but they have a big price difference. Am I missing something? :D

    Glock 34

Glock 34 chambered in 9mm seems very nice. I like the simplicity of glocks. It comes in a 5.32 inch barrel. Around what fps should a standard 115 gr. 9mm go in that? Does it offer a significant increase in performance over the 4.5 inch ones? Or am I just splitting hairs? :D

    Most Reliable 45ACP autoloader?

Could you fill me in on the most reliable 45ACP autoloader? Wouldn't it make sense to have the autoloader with the least number of internal parts?
