    Browning HiPower

After having lusted for one since back in the '70s, I am thinking of buying a current production Browning HiPower. Anything I should know about them or watch out for when looking at them? Also, I am looking for a comparison of the HiPower to a CZ75. Thanks for any guidance!

    Glock 17 vs XD 9mm

Make it easy on yourself: go to a shop that has both and hold them both. If possible, rent and shoot them both. Pick the one that feels better to you. Both are very reliable pistols. My personal pick is the XD. YMMV.

Anybody carrying the Springfield XD 45?

My XD-45 ACP Service Model carries just fine in a CompTac C-TAC every day.

Colt 1911 WWI Repro, How many?

Yes, they are still being produced. My dealer had a used one (appeared to never have been fired) and was willing to order a NIB one for me direct from Colt for $970.

    Springfield or Kimber?

BrennanKG, Forgot to say before: You're a lucky man to have a pre-Series II Kimber!

    Springfield or Kimber?

Because of the age of your pistol, it is most likely a "Series I", however an internal extractor is not the indicator of a "Series I" pistol. Technically, there is no such thing as a "Series I" Kimber. They just called any of the newer designed pistols (with the Swartz firing pin safety) Series...

    Springfield or Kimber?

You are wrong. S&W has, and has always had (on ALL of their semi-auto pistols), a reliable external extractor.

    Which gun should i get?

If you go with an XD-45, you will not have a rust problem, as the XD-45 has a melonite finish, which is similar to Glock's tennifer finish. If you can't decide between a Glock and the XD, go to a shop and just hold, or, better yet, rent and shoot them both. I bet I know which one you'll like...

    Springfield or Kimber?

Just out of curiosity, where have you ever seen anyone have a problem with the external extractor of a S&W SW1911?

    JUST A FEW QUESTIONS

They are already out, in both Service (4") and Tactical (5").

Do I need a new pistol? Help me out here...

Why would you think that? The XD's all have an ambidextrous magazine release. The only lever that is not ambidextrous on the pistol is the slide release, which a lot of people don't use anyway. There are a lot of people who pull the slide back and release to chamber the first round of a new...

Do I need a new pistol? Help me out here...

Springfield Armory XD-45 ACP! You say that you've held one and it fits your hand. See if you can rent one. You won't be sorry!

    spring. xd 45

My XD-45 ACP Service Model is the best handgun that I've ever owned, shot or carried. I *highly* recommend it. BTW - ALL XD-45 ACP models come with the melonite finish, except the BiTone models, which have a stainless steel slide.

xd triggers what the big deal?

First off, I agree that trigger pull is subjective, so everyone's idea of what a "good" trigger pull feels like is going to be different. This is what I have read and, by shooting both my XD-45ACP and a rented Glock, have found to be the apparent difference between the trigger action of the...

    My new XD9 Subcompact

So far, the only XD's made with the melonite finish are the XD-45ACP's.
