Need to load up some RN's for my lever. I have 4831, XBR 8208 and H335 in stock. I will be loading Hornady 150gr RN interlock. Look out piggies here I come!
4831 is too slow unless you're running cast bullets.
I agree.I was using H4831 with cast in my .348WCF, because that was what I used with jacketed... it was horrible. Muzzle blast, poor ballistics. I switched to IMR3031, and not only did I save powder per charge, I picked up velocity (in my 20" barrel,) accuracy was the same or better, and I didn't get hateful stares. I just think it's too slow of a powder for that application.
Marlin or Winchester? 30.3gr XBR or 30.5gr. 335. Don't forget the Marlin's Microgroove rifling prefers a longer-burning powder and may prefer XBR. That Hornady interlock's a good deer bullet but I've never used it on pigs. They have that hardened cartilage along the shoulder ridge that lighter bullets tend to break up in.
