When I was working in South America, I had a 640 that had been magna ported and had a XS bigdot tritium up front. I carried it in a Galco MOB belt holster.
In 20 months I never had to draw it or fire it. If you are a gringo working at a gold mine at an altitude of close to 4,000 meters you have to be prepared. You are preceived as rich and that makes you a target. Also, that model is nice in that in can be concealed in a jacket and fired from inside the pocket.
Ultimately, it is what makes you feel secure in your own mind that serves you the best.. When you are in a threatening situation, you body language telegraphs where you mind is focused. If you are perceived as confident, alert to your surroundings, this can lead someone considering an attack on you to pass on you and hit somebody else.
