.45 ACP Pocket Pistols - Whose got one?

I think the definition of "pocket pistol" has changed along with the size of men's pockets.

PM45. Pretty much all I've been carrying for the past couple of years. It works good and I shoot it well. I've handled the XDs and like it alot, but I had the Kahr before the XDs came out and don't see any noticeable advantage to the Springfield. Based upon my experiences with older XD guns it should be a good one though. The XD compact is an excellent choice for carry and overall use, but bigger than I personally like.

He's contemplating using cast boolits for carry? If not, he can get an after market barrel for a G30 (I have one for my G30SF) and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Of course there are thousands of casters like myself (started circa 1970) who shoot tens of thousands of cast boolits through all our Glocks. It wasn't until I was kerrectalyy edumicated via the internet about the horrors of cast boolits in Glock barrels that I even knew I was doing anything rong.
You were incorrectly educated. Cast is fine in Glocks if you use a hard enough alloy, size them properly, and clean the darned thing.

If got literally thousands of .45 acp cast bullets down my G30 without any issues. But then, I'm old and someone taught me to clean guns when I was done with them, not believe the internet that says you don't need to clean glocks.

And to the OP, I've been carrying AMT .45 and .380 (single action) backups for decades. Mine are just fime, and the .45 being steel makes a much better club is the ammo runs dry.

I have two compact 45's that I carry the first is a Kimber Ultra Carry II and a SIG P245. Both will fit in a pant's pocket however will pull your pants down unless your wearing a good belt. Both are better suited to belt carry though.

I just got back from the NRA convention. Two vendors were showing 2 different 45ACP 2 shot derringers. They were real pocket pistols, about .75" wide. Hezler(?) said they began shipping this month. The other brand is DoubleTap shipping in June. 5.5 inches long and less than 4 inches high. They may be the answer how to carry a 45 in a Texas summer.
I saw the Bond Derringers while in Houston in .45LC/.410. But to me they are in no way a CCW (perhaps as a BUG in a fanny pack or ladies purse).

I wouldn't call my XDs a pocket carry with normal jeans, but in something baggier I imagine it would work very well. I would definitely go XDs over Glock for pocket carry.

XDS rocks
Yep, you can throw it or use it as a club:neener: j/k.

The IDPA World Championship reports what guns shooters compete with and that data shows that XD is not very popular compared to Glock or M&P. Any thoughts as to why?

I've carried a Kahr P45 daily for three years. I like it because it's thin and conceals well, and I can shoot it as accurately as a full size 1911.

I pocket carry an XDs in cargo shorts with a Galco pocket holster. Works great, but does require a large pocket.

Because they put the XD in Enhanced Service Pistol, competing directly against tuned 9mm 1911's.

In contrast, Glocks and M&P's are in Stock Service Pistol, competing against each other, Berettas, Sigs and such.

Someone on a forum asked for some comparison pictures, so I provided these. I have thrown my Ultra in my pocket a few times heading to the store at night... but it's not what I would call practical or comfortable. The 342 is with me 6 days a week, IWB appendix.

Not too sure but the prodction division of our local USPSA club is dominated by the XDM. I believe it may be due to the use of the others you mentioned by more LEOs and that could be the reason.

Unlike IDPA, USPSA correctly places the XD/XDm in Production Division where it shines.
