.45 GAP real world results?

I thought being able to use a smaller platform was the reason to use .45GAP
That is the exact reason I got mine. Like having 10+1 .45 in a 9mm sized frame AND my Glock aims just fine also. :)

EMT's rule of thumb: The guys shot by 9mm's usually live. The guys shot by .40's and .45's usually die.

I guess I should tell the people I have seen die from .22's, .25's and .380's that they aren't dead and the ones shot with a .45 that they are, right?

Now understand my days on the streets running a lot of shootings are gone now but back in the day I don't remember any direct correlation between caliber and death. I do remember a direct correlation between shoot placement and death.

Correct me if I'm wrong as my knowledge is not that vast, but to me that statement didn't make sense.

Everything I have read tells me there ballistically identical. I mean as far as loading goes there both loaded with the same weight in powder, 4-6gr. right?

Joey, the .45gap has a smaller internal case volume, therefore the same amount of powder combusting in a smaller space will reach higher pressures for the same performance.

Couple observations:

Thats bull crap. There is an actual stat I read once. 75 % of people shot with pistols live 75 % of people shot with longguns die.

Which, without a bunch more info, has no correlation to the question at hand. 25% of people shot with handguns die is all that tells us. Majority of that 25% could have been shot with .45s, or 9mms, or .17hmrs.

Now understand my days on the streets running a lot of shootings are gone now but back in the day I don't remember any direct correlation between caliber and death. I do remember a direct correlation between shoot placement and death.

Would be interesting to find out if there's a correlation between shot placement and caliber. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that the average 9mm owner has less practice than the average .45 owner. Not saying 9mm owners are inherently bad shots, but given the modern popularity of the cartridge seems to me to make it more likely...

I have nothing to back this up other then my gut, but given the choice of a random guy or gal with a G17 or a Government Model 1911 shooting at me, I'd choose the G17. And a 1911 in my hand. :)

I like the quote drummed up by the .45GAP marketing machine:
"The Only Difference Is The Size"

Yeah right, "Size" AND the 50% increase in the cost of ammo versus the .45ACP.

Our local police got 9mms a while back and proceded to shoot several people. They all died right there. The local police trainging then stressed taking head shots when offered and they did.

I've run into a couple of people shot with .45s. Don't know the load but very likely ball. They didn't die but they did end up very screwed up. One had to wear panty hose to regulate his bodily fluids and the other grew wheels.

.45 GAP has no reason to exist. .40 and .45 are just fine and it offers nothing over either. Not a thing wrong with 9mm either.

When Glock came out with the Glock 21 (45ACP) I thought about buying one but the grip was to big for me. When Glock came out with the Glock 37 (45GAP) the grip was just right. I now own a 45 Glock (45GAP). If it weren’t for the GAP I wouldn’t own a 45 Glock.

I think the biggest thing you all are finding out about GAP is that alot of people who normally wouldn't own a .45 cause of their smaller hands own and shoot one now. Thanks to GAP of course. Cost, yeah cost will go down. PD are already using alot of GAP applications. With demand on the rise, the companies will start issuing some cheaper ammo! ;)
