Hello all i'm new to the forum and have a question concerning dies for a 7-300 prc i'm building. The place that built my barrel told my to get a set of 7lrm dies from Gunwerks and use a .313 neck bushing. But with the length to the shoulder being a bit shorter than a 300 prc I would have to adjust the die accordingly. Or am I better off using a 300 PRC die with a 7mm neck bushing and seating my bullet with a 30 cal. die. Eventually I want to get a set of dies made for it but thats down the road a bit. Any thoughts? Thanks

Wouldn't the second option be exactly what you would be purchasing in the end?

I don't see the benefit of a custom full length sizer without bushings.
They're not just for turned necks.

Of course, if you had an extra Benjamin to spend on dies to have them say GunWerks...;)

Thats why Im a bit confused. It seems to me the 300 PRC with the 7mm bushing is the way to go. I dont know why he told me to go with the 7LRM dies with .313 bushing. Ive tried asking him why but now he says he doesnt want the liability of giving reloading advice. I dont get it, He made the barrel.

Eventually I was going to have a set of dies made from Warner tool and Die but Ive got to send in fired brass to do it so I guess Ill neck down some 300 PRC brass and bite the bullet and get them made.

...he says he doesn't want the liability of giving reloading advice.

Curious. Yet he puts his name on a barrel humans hold next to their face?

I would rather have the body of the case supported the whole way down.(I am assuming the LRM is shorter. I've not seen one.)

This is only Fifty dollars. Obviously not a custom made-to-your-brass sizer, but all the new style RCBS Match something-or-others were sold out.
The bushings are separate.

Forgive me earlier. Welcome to the Forum!
The High Road. A clean, well lighted establishment!

How foolish of me. I should call you Sensei...
I went to the Warne Tool and Die site. Um... Yeah, those are nice.:what:
And cost as much as the entire amount of powder to wear out an AR.

Evidently Gunwerks endorses Hornady. I don't fault them, I shoot red...
When I'm not shooting finish nails.:)

I guess Ill neck down some 300 PRC brass and bite the bullet and get them made.

Seems reasonable.
What do you use for your seater die?

And if I could pry a little futher, what are you building this rifle for?

Yes the Warner dies are very nice and extremely expensive but it would be made exact to my chamber and I can head-space it for the exact shoulder bump I want every time. I comes with shims if you haven't seen the you tube videos on them and if a person was just trying to look for every possible reason to have one made vs say buying another rifle, years supply of food, a new car, etc. you can buy the inserts for other calibers you have for a lot less to offset the cost, wink wink. I have researched the case dimensions on both the 7LRM and 300 PRC they are both built on a 375 ruger parent cast but the 7 has the shoulder pushed back a little bit more for a longer neck thus a little shorter overall. As far as the build this is going to be a long range target rifle. Its going on an XLR chassis. We have a thing out here called the milk jug challenge. If you haven't hear of it check it out on you tube. Im going to do my best to hit a milk jug with it from a 1k out to 2.5k yds. with it.
