9mm AK: the akx-9k

Yup, it's the price! I would pay $1600+ for a SBR'd Sig MPX...not for a big, heavy, 9mm AK with crap ergos.

They got everything right except the price.

For that, you can build 2 AR15's, one of them a 9mm carbine or pistol.

The next 9x19 carbine I was looking at was an SBRed CZ Scorpion. This thing and it's $1600 price tag does nothing to change that.

I'd imagine $1600 buys the Scorpion, the compliance kit, a tax stamp, some mags and maybe enough left for an aimpoint.

Honestl.y there is not much about the AK looking 9mm that interests me and far too many more attractive options for 9x19 carbines in that price range.

If it was chambered for 9x39 and came with some ammo it would be interesting enough for me to buy.

For a Bizon with helical? Yes. The Russians developed several AK based PCC's, only the Bizon was issued in any numbers.

It looks good, it's neat but I think overpriced. I don't doubt it will work with stick magazines. Nice to see a company trying new things. The build looks more complex than just riveting on a mag well, there are some substantial changes. It looks well thought out.

I WOULD want to read a very detailed shooting review before offering up that kind of $$

boricua9mm, I agree, I think the innovation is cool, but for $1600 I can build two 9mm ARs that use the same expensive magazines.

Some sticker shock is understood IMO.

The CZ Scorpion SBR'd is the way to go. Strap on a suppressor and you've got quite the package. I like the idea of the 9mm AK... reliable 9mm rifle, but definitely not worth that price tag.

AK is a Rifle. In both standard Russian calibers (47/74) it also makes one heck of a SBR.

As a carbine I don't see the point, only an SBR would make sense in 9mm. As an SBR its effectively a subgun. Its not like an AR where you swap the mag, mag holder and upper and have two guns in one.

With Proven subgen platforms offered in 9mm like the MP5 and UZI, and with reputable clone manufacturers offering the MP5 in the $1600-2000, or Uzi in the $800-1200 range, why do we need a 9mm AK?

I'm not saying there isn't room for a 9mm AK, I guess I'm just saying there are better options for $1600 in 9mm.

I'm not dissing the AK platform, just picked up a PAPM92 and love it, I just think it has great calibers to begin with, so why try to make it something its not.

I suppose if I just wanted 2 guns for HD, then a 9mm handgun and the 9mm AK would simplify matters.

With only 2 guns, I would be willing to pay the high price, assuming the quality is there.
