i have a kel-tec p11 9mm and was wondering if it was ok to dry fire it? anybody carry one, if so how pocket or iwb?
also about what weight is the trigger pull?
i've dry fired mine hundreds of times without any problem. Not sure what KT recommends. I carry P11 IWB in one of those skinny cloth uncle mikes. very confortable and lightweight, no bulk. triggers are heavy, mine is around 8.5lbs. shoot it often to get used to it. there are also factory and wolf replacement springs that are lighter.
It's best to use snap caps with a P-11. Doing it some won't likely be a problem but eventually you could have a broken firing pin with some. Best not to chance it.
I believe the manual says not to dry fire the P11. The steel used in these guns, is soft, and burrs will form from normal use. A thin coat of grease, under the slide didn't help, either. Great little carry, but not shot alot, gun.
Prior to reading my owners manual I dry fired the dog manure out of mine. Never had a problem, but kt says not to dry fire. What can happen is the firing pin stop is a set screw and it can shear off. When that happens the firing pin and spring will fly back out of the gun. Actually the p11 is a nice carry gun, but it ain't built for the long haul. Yea, others will argue that it has a lifetime warranty, but what good is a warranty if it breaks when you need it most.
