1911 22 Colt Gold Cup.jpg

I took out my Walther/Colt Gold Cup Trophy .22 today for the first time in over a year. I was having serious problems with hammer following and slide not going forward. I replaced the main spring and the rebound spring with a new set from Taylor Inc. and decided today would be a good day to try it out. I brought it as my second gun to test after sighting in my Black Mamba with a new red dot sight.

I was very pleased. I fired 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mags and 50 rounds of CCI Blazers with only one hammer falling premature and no other problems.
I really like the Gold Cup rear sight and the new EGW green fiber optic front sight. It made it easy for me to keep all my shots within my 8 inch Shoot and See target at 15 yards.

I'm going to have to use this soon in our Steel Challenge matches to really see how well it works. Two Hundred Plus rounds should prove it's prowess against those steel targets.

All I can say is it put a smile on my face. Feels like a standard 1911 but there is no recoil.

I'm glad I finally got the springs working. This gun is a true keeper.

"I was very pleased. I fired 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mags and 50 rounds of CCI Blazers with only one hammer falling premature and no other problems." I'd be pretty disheartened.

OooOoohOooh! @AzShooter1, those Volquartsen Black Mambas are very nice!

Do a range report, with pics, on that one next, please. 😇

I’m glad to read that the 1911 .22 reacted well to the new springs and seems to have exorcised its demons! Nothing is worse than a gun that has nothing but problems, it quickly makes any fun range day go sour.

I bought one of the Browning 7/8 sized 1911’s a few months ago. When I first brought it home and took down the little guy I was fearing it would be a jam-fest at the range. Gladly I was mistaken! This little gun shoots very well for me and just keeps plugging along with a variety of different ammo.

Stay safe.

Of all the guns I have the most fun I have is with a cricket 22lr single shot bolt action hand gun. Everybody that shoots it wants one. kids really like it.

Most Fun "Sweetest" gun I've ever shot. And, I'm talking 60 years of shooting here. Of all, hand guns, long guns and in between guns.
The Remington 550-1.
Nothing else I can say.
