"American Guns" TV show.....

Rental helicopter. I smell "new" money.

I'm sure we all know a real businessman and a real gunsmith, even if they're not in the same TV-ready package or don't have a hot underage daughter running around their shop.

I'll save my admiration for honest people and accomplished craftsmen, and it would surprise me greatly if this character ever finds himself counted amongst either group.

Oh Man, you guys are tough on these people. Someone has to say something good. I might as well be the one who gives it a try. Here goes. I like the fact that the show has some beautiful scenery. Colorado ain't a bad place to go visit ranches and such where people have nice gun collections. Even though the head man there low balls all the sellers, those sellers all seem to have the bucks to shoo him away any time they want. As far as the two babes. Um, I like babes. And if they have tight jeans on, well, um, I like that too. Sorry. And the kids. They ARE working kids. How many kids actually have a job nowdays? They seem to be humble and learning and hard working and representative of the better aspects of youth. I like the son and daughter. And for once, the guns aren't some 900mm seven mile anti ship shoulder fired piece that I will never shoot. They shoot lever actions and even .22s. I like that too. Alright, that's my effort. I just wanted to say something nice, for a change.

Holy crap! A trailer hitch for the volly gun mount to point the guns in the air. Ther guys are amazing.

Say all the nice things you want, it's a free country! It's just that most of us gunnies here in the Denver area DON'T have anything nice to say about the guy or the shop. Let's just say he has a "reputation" as an orifice.

Son & daughter, as far as "working kids" go, grew up with the guy's first wife, their real mother, and her husband, who considers them his kids.
The show is a poorly constructed fabrication, you can't take anything they show at face value.

I caught a bit of last night show, the "selling to a high roller, via chopper" segment. Rich getting all upset because a guy wasn't buying his common, FN2000, Quad-railed AR, Sig 551, or as he called them "high quality stuff" rifles made me laugh.

I'm kinda sad in a way he didn't ask a price on any of them or discovery edited it out, would have been funny to see how high the prices were on stuff you could pick up online, or any decent stocking shop or at a gun show.

I didn't know O Norths signature was worth 10.5-11 K. I bet he didn't either.
Isn't that the second O North signed gun they sold on that show?

Discounting the fact it was on I believe a colt sporter ar-15, O. North signatures can be found on books/photos for under $50. But it's not always how much it's worth, it's how much the sucker is willing to pay.

Sucker isn't a strong enough word for the guy that bought the SP-1.

Good ol Rich should have took him inside his mansion and cuddled and made pillow talk with that guy right there when he got done doing him.

And I thought the sawed-off beater shotgun was a little over-priced for $2,500 too!

I also have to wonder how much this show is helping his business?
I'd take a big jar of Vaseline with me if I was going shopping there!!

But maybe he caters to ignorant folks with lots of money rather then knowledgeable gun buyers?

BTW: I thought the diamond crusted silver plated 1911 was Fugley too!
It would have looked a whole lot better to me with full coverage engraving and a nice blue job!

It is all a bit too fabricated. Perhaps I just have too much local knowledge.

In the first episode, he could have probably driven from his shop to the location in the canyon faster than the time it took him to drive to Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport, preflight the chopper, get the weather briefing, and fly up the canyon. And, flying up canyons up here is questionable even on good days.

Also, there was an article in the Denver Post a couple of years ago about how the Sleeper house (which is up on the very top of a ridge clearly visible from I-70) has never been used as a residence.

In terms of generating business: I am not sure I am interested in dropping by the store to browse. However, there are some that will be attracted by the "Famous People" that run the store.

It's becoming like jersy housewives, jersey shore, jerseylicious, this is the problem with TV and always has been, One show comes out that's a little different and soon there are a dozen others trying to split the pie. Like gas stations and pizza parlors, one opens does a little business, the 5 more guys see it's getting some action and jump in. Eventually it kills the business.

Marked up a NOT 60's era Colt with an Ollie North signature. Unless that was full auto and they were BOTH dealers that price was outrageous.

The custom 1911: I didn't like the grips but the rest of it looked pretty good.

The Shotgun Willy's shotgun? Kind of a yawn.

My God check out the girl at least. Are you also telling me those arent really gunsmiths. I guess now you are going to tell me the Dog isnt really a bounty hunter and wrestling is fake. The funny part I bet everyone of you will be closet watchers.

I liked where the daughter said, "Why does everything we shoot hafta blow up?" Figgured they would have edited that out.

Also kinda suprised the show let them go scooting off on 4-wheelers without helmets.

I thought I recognized the name "Shotgun Willie's" in the last show. The owner refers to it as a nightclub. It is a topless bar in Denver.

I also notice a lot of interesting interpretations if "customers" requests.
The volley gun episode- it appeared to me the guy wanted a replica of the Civil war volley gun he had a picture of. Instead they build a cobbled together mish mash of black powder rifle barrels, steel angle, plywood, trailer hitch and other modern hardware all slapped onto a cheap was trailer.

The "James Bond" car - Q would die laughing. Bond's cars were/are stealthy, with their systems concealed, not with stuff hanging attached underneath and visible

The "intimidating shotgun" - I assumed it would have been a customized tactical shotgun with optics etc. Instead, they cut down a side by side exposed hammer gun, slap some laser carving and a badge on the stock and a fake rust patina on the metal parts. Old coach guns are a lot cheaper.

The anniversary 1911 was a joke. Carvings were ok, but the diamonds on the grips looked uncomfortable as they were sticking up so much.

Last comment. Has anyone found it amusing how close the targets they shoot at are? Makes it hard to miss, especially with the rifles.

On the 1911 the engraving was good, the grips were a mess! Unless it was covered in mud and you didn't want it to slip out of your hands!

I'm starting up a new TV channel. 24 hours a day - babes and guns. Something tells me I won't be alone watching...

Just saw the episode with the bling gun. OMG, those grips with the "RW" diamonds were hideous. If that wife has any real class she will replace the grips and use the diamonds for a nice bracelet. Plus, the gun certainly can't be comfortable to shoot unless you like bloody palms. I did think the diamond sights were cool though along with the engraving and the silver plating. Way too much money being thrown away.

Plus...please..with the "my wife is beautiful" comments. NEWS FLASH: she isn't. He should have spent that $15,000 on some dental work instead.
