For more years than I can remember, us menfolk, mostly kin, head to a special spot in the mountains early on turkey day. We take youngins with us too, so we can teach them the way. Usually about 10-12 of us.

We jeep hunt on the way up, quail, tree rats, ground rats and rabbits. Get to our spot, break out the quads/Rhino's for the kids while some continue to hunt and others break out the cast iron pans and prepare eggs, deer sausage, bacon, orher wild game meats. Might even roast some quail over the fire.

Have some target practice for all, jeep hunt on the way down the mountain and head to the house for thanksgiving dinner.

Hunting today was good (8 quail myself), breakfast was good, dinner was great. lot's to give thanks for today.

You're not alone. Wife and I usually get up early and toss the turkey in the oven then toss the stands in the truck. This year we had a monkey wrench tossed in as on Wednesday night the wife & brother in law both shot hogs so instead of going to the woods at 5am we went to our shop and skinned and boned hog.

Turkey was just as good as if we'd been hunting and the nap felt better because the hogs were done..............
