Every year for a very long time, a group of us relatives (grandpas, dads, sons, nephews, etc.) and freinds take a one hour drive up in the mountains to a favorite spot. We take guns, ATV's and all the makings for a mountain breakfast.

We do a little quail hunting on the way up and a little more when we get there, but mostly just set up camp, then cook a big breakfast of game meats, eggs and pan fried toast, all out of iron skillets and a fire ring.

This is where we teach our young to shoot and hunt and just enjoy the atmosphere. Then after a short time, we race back down the mountain to get home in time for a traditional turkey dinner.

Anybody else have gun related holiday plans?

Thursday - Clean hunting rifles
Friday - Hunting with family
Saturday - Hunting with friends
Sunday - Hunting with other friends
Monday - Hunting with just me

I'm going to take care of a friends horse and cow tomorow.

Then I'm going over to another friend's house for dinner. We'll probably talk about guns a lot.

I might get in a little laser practice with a S&W J Frame about dark.

Buddy and I have wed thru wknd off. I bought a couple cases of 12 ga game loads & the two of use went trap shooting today before all the craziness starts -- great way to relax & blow off some steam!

The daughter and grandkids are in for Thanksgiving. I'm taking my non-shooting son-in-law to the range Friday.

Wow that sounds like a blast. I wish i could do that where i live.

I eat until I'm sick on Thursday.
On Friday, I usually have a 4-5 hour range session with my dad and a few of my friends(and their dads)

This hasn't been a ritual for a long time(well I always eat until I feel like vomiting on turkeyday), but for the past few years we have done this.

gbran,

Thats a great story, thanks for sharing...That sounds like a ton of fun.

Taking the Ruger 10/22 and MarkII to my In-laws. Going to take my youngest son and his GF shooting. Going to let him (and her if she wants) shoot my new (to me) 629, and my AR.

Stuffin' myself silly tomorrow, with 14 people, family and friends.:D
Goin' to a gun show on Friday:D
Headin' to the range on Saturday:D
Chillin' with football games on Sunday:D

Same as every Thanksgiving.
while the wife bake 1 Turkey, I'll deep fry one. while it cools, get the guns out.
after everyone is full, start shooting, (it keeps people from falling asleep).

Gotta go to the inlaws. Well in law. He lost his wife last year. It's nice to get together over there. He appreciates the family time. I may go shoot in the AM though. ;)

After that I will have to leave home and hope some Jack*** doesn't break in while we are out. Like Ala Dan said, this is an opportune time for crooks who look for houses where everyone is gone to visit for the day. :cuss:

Everything is locked up. Unless they come prepared, they won't get any valuables. Just the TV, stereo, etc.

I can live without those untill I get new ones. :)

Thusday - Pheasant hunting
Friday - Pheasant hunting
Saturday - Pheasant hunting
Sunday - Clean gun, let dog rest, eat pheasant
