And by sell, i don't mean auctions! I would just like to pick up a genuine Makarov pistol, not a Makarov-esque pistol like the feg, CZ, etc, without all the hassle. I see the FEG, CZ, etc are available at many retailers but not the real deal that i can find at least. Any suggestions?

I think the "real deal" surplus guns sold out or were outlawed for import (chinese) years ago.

Gun-shows, on-line auctions, and newspaper adds are your best bet now.

Try to get a Bulgarian Makarov. They are still avaiable at good prices, maybe around $200 or so. East Germans have gotten pricey again, the Chinese are rare and the Russians are also expensive. The Russian Commercial models would be my second choice due to price on the used market, but have the adjustable rear sight that some don't like. It can be replaced with an aftermarket fixed sight however.

The BG Maks are indeed great pistols but good luck finding one for $200. You are looking at $300 and that is if you are lucky. Around $400 would be for one in mint condition. Sadly, the days of $200 Maks are long over :(
