Anyone else keep their guns?

No. My gun interest only started three years ago, in middle age. First purchase was then.

Being unable to hit anything at 50 yards with both MN 44s (Bulg. ammo), sold them.
With the Yugo Mauser's iron sights and my lack of skill, it might not be around too much longer, but the ammo is fairly cheap.

With the history and sights of Enfields and the Garand, they will stay.

I have never purchased a gun with the intent of not keeping it forever. But I have probably sold close to 50 guns.
If they don't fit, get rid of it.
If it is inaccurate and it costs to much to make accurate, get rid of it.
If I buy it as a project but it sits under my bed for 3 years because for some stupid reason Mossberg only built that one specific model for about 2 weeks and changed their tooling and I don't feel like looking for that stupid part any longer, get rid of it.
If I need money, gone.
If I see something I want more, trade in one I am not shooting.
If I don't shoot it, goodbye.
If I am contemplating spending another grand on a safe, the current one is getting raided.

When I sell or trade in a gun for the purpose of buying another, I only go to a higher quality firearm. If I am not happy with a purchase, or it turns out I just don't use it for any reason it is gone. Life is to short to waste time, money, energy, space on an object that I have no reason for having other than just having it.

Heck, I bought a rifle, Ruger #1 in 338, got it home. Looked at it and asked myself "Why did I just buy this, I don't need this", took it to a gun shop, traded it in for more than I paid, and got something I want. Less than an hour of ownership.

I trade them like baseball cards. :D When I see something that I think will suit my current carry/shooting needs better, I have to sell something (often at a loss) to get something. This is primarily to keep the peace. Most that I have sold or traded I would have kept if given the choice. :uhoh:

traded 1 once looooong ago. Still feel like a peice of my soul is missing, never again. If one turns out to be a POS I just hang it on a wall as art.

So far, I have yet to sell or trade any of my firearms. I came close with a H&R single shot that I bought on impulse as a car gun, but I decided to hang onto it. It may become my concealed kitchen or shower gun.

Never sold a firearm. Most of mine though have been passed down at least 2 generations through my family do those quite literally are will be leaving this house over my cold dead body and on to my kids.

I have bought 4 myself for very specific needs such as CCW in different situations and hunting and those ain't going anywhere either.

Though if I got to buying a ton just for the heck of it, I might see me trading some.

Would never sell any of my guns. You never know when uncle sam says you can't buy them anymore. It WILL happen, look at how many new laws have been created in the past 25 years. 1 little law at a time, aw that isnt a bad idea, or who cares if your a law abiding citizen, it's not a big deal. BULL**** there trying to disarm us!

I have traded off & sold off a few over the years. There is one I regret in particular the rest not so much. I sold 2 because I got myself in a some binds in my early 20's due to the drinking I was doing. The others I traded I just didn't care that much about or I had already gotten better options. Most of what I have now I like & will probably keep from now on. I do have a pistol grip only shotgun that I need to either get a full stock for or sell though. That & I have an old Spanish Mauser that doesn't get shot much. I need to either figure out a way to make it more useful or sell/trade it to turn it into something I will get more use out of. Other than that I plan on keeping what I have.

I have sold guns that I didn't need or have a particular affinity for.

I would thin the herd and buy a machine gun but I doubt I could justify the ammo cost.

I have never impulse bought a gun. I have a safe full of guns that I really enjoy. Mostly 3-gun. My FN SLP and match rifle put big smiles on my face.

I never let one go. Too often I see friends and fellow shooters express regret at letting a nice piece slip away...

I have bought some guns in the last couple years and sold a few that I had for 30+ years that I just didn't need anymore or shoot. I only bought and sold 3 guns in the last 2 years that just weren't smart buys for me.
If I see something that's a STEAL and I can flip it for some cash, I would, otherwise I buy firearms with the intention of keeping them.
I have 7 guns that I've owned for close to 40yrs.
I still have my Ithaca mod. 49 .22 my dad bought me when I was 7. I don't use it, but it's there. If I ever find someone with a youngster that would put it to good use, I'd sell it cheap.

Never sold any of my guns (so far)...!

I currently own many guns (rifles, shotguns, revolvers, semi's) and can honestly say that I've never sold a gun that was my own. I used to have an FFL so I sold quite a few guns that were not actually mine. I did have an old lever action BB gun (rifle) when I was a kid and I have no idea whatever happened to it...

I did give away my first firearm... it was an old J.C. HIggins (Sears) .22 rifle that shot shorts, longs and LRs... but I gave it to my son so that doesn't count as actually getting rid of a gun, now, does it...? :neener:

I only get guns that I really want. I've only sold 2 since I started buying them. One was a CZ .30-06 hunting rifle which I have regretted ever since. The other was an AR-15, but I was in desperate need of cash at the time. I don't feel so bad about the AR because they're easily replaced. Other than that, if I buy a gun, I intend on keeping it.

Only sold 2 in 40 years - Beretta 9000S in 40 S&W and Taurus PT92 in 9mm

9000 too fat grip - traded for my PM9 which I love
PT92 - couldn't hit the broadside of a barn...from inside of it!!!! - traded for a Star Firestar .40. Great gun, heavy as a brick but reliable and accurate.

So swapped 40's for 9's and happy with the change.

That was years ago, since then only incoming - want a Glock 36 next.

I tried to stick to the "I shall keep every firearm I ever owned!" mantra, but then a couple of bad months had come down the pipe.

Now my Walther P22 is in the hands of someone else, along with a Taurus PT145 I carried so much I wore the slide's bluing off. That one went to a brother in law that needed some 2nd amendment himself, he's very happy with it. Also had a Charter Arms Mag Pug that I bought right out of the Army as a CCW piece. My CCW piece was in transit at the time, and I was alone and unarmed. As soon as I got my standard piece back, the cylinder started to jam up on the Mag Pug. It's been thrown into the recycled gun show hands and I don't regret it in the slightest.

Had a Remington 870, parkerized, with a 28in barrel. I bought it for trap shooting. After the first 100 clays, my arms wanted to fall off. After the second 100, somehow a shell got misfed up under the feeder arm and jammed the entire thing up. I traded that shotgun for two Maverick 88's, one in 20in "Security" and one in 28in "Field." LOVE those shotguns.

In summary, I regret selling the Walther and I regret buying the 870. The rest is fine.

I've tried a few, didn't like them, sold them at the next gun show. One was a .380 Accutek or something like that. It was cheap and made out of potted metal. The safety lever flew off while shooting. Got it fixed under warranty and sold it. The other was a .38 special snubnose LadySmith for my wife... but she didn't like it. I also had a S&W Sigma 9mm that kept jamming for no good reason. Sold them all.

My Beretta 92FS with CT lasergrips is one that I thought about selling a few times, but I just couldn't bear to part with. Wolff springs, polished and tuned to perfection, never a misfeed or failure of any kind in over 5000 rounds. I just can't let that one go.

I don't think that I've ever sold a gun. I traded a few over the years. My son and grandsons have a love of firearms, hopefully they will keep them when I'm gone and enjoy them as much as I have.

I went through a buy, sell, buy sell phase. I was just starting out on my venture into guns and wasn't quite sure what I wanted so I blew a lot of money buying up all sorts of firearms. My wife gave me a hard time and, frankly, she had good reason to.

Over the course of a 6 month period, I had bought:
Mosin M38
Yugo SKS
Ruger 10/22
SW 642
Stevens 20ga shotgun
1911
Bersa 380
Savage 12FV in .223
Marlin .22
Remington 870
Glock 19
...I'm sure there are more.

I sold them all off, except for the Stevens 20ga, and only owned that gun until a month ago when I started remembering all the ones I did like. I have 3 guns now and I'm looking for a 4th (Ruger 10/22). I'm only buying the ones I enjoyed shooting. I lost a lot of money doing that and if I could do it again, I'd borrow the guns before I decided to purchase. I guess I'm just the kind of person who has to OWN his guns.

Oh really? I guess the fact that 48 states now allow concealed carry to some degree must be a part of those new "restrictive" laws huh? While I agree we should always remain vigilent,I also don't think constantly parading out the doom and gloom scenarios paints an accurate picture of the "gun rights fight". While some stupid laws have been passed, we've also ACCOMPLISHED a lot as gun owners. Concealed carry, carry in national parks, etc etc We've also had two monumnetal USSC decisions that favor gun owners and solidify the 2ndA as an individual right, for the first time ever. In the end, you are basically correct....SOME people ARE trying to disarm us. The reality of the situation is that they aren't having a whole lot of luck doing so, and the anti-gun groups are losing ground, not taking it. I believe it was the VPC I read that was basically bankrupt at this point......something the NRA isn't........

In years gone by,

When I was young dumb and not as financially stable, as I am today, I sold several pieces that I regret having sold. I am happy to have re-acquired a couple of them (Colt Delta Elite and a 4" Blued Python, that my dad gave me, shortly after paying the whopping price of $162, plus 6% tax, for it NEW at Gemco department store).
I want back my Belgian Hi Power, my custom Combat Commander, my 1954 Government Model, serial number 2682XXC, a Canadian Army Colt New Service .45 Colt revolver, my 6.5 Carcano with folding bayonet, and my Dan Wesson 6" Vent Heavy, blue steel .357 Magnum revolver. Those are the ones I let get away, that I regret the most.
I thank God, I never got so hard up to sell the very collectible pieces I have. And, yet, to some, they are not really truly collectible, as they are not rare, just old and scarce. I held on to the majority of what I have acquired over the years, and have vowed to never sell what it left. My sons will get them all, including the mass produced, never to be collectible pieces.

I used to buy-sell-trade quite a bit many years ago. I got rid of some really nice pieces but I don't miss them. I sort of had in mind that I wouldn't keep them when I bought them.

It's fun to buy guns. It's fun to sell guns. It's fun to trade guns. If I see a good deal I'll snag it if I can swing it monetarily. Then I can trade up (since I got a good deal) on something that I do want. And if I see something I think I really want, I'll trade something I only kinda like. If I had a lot of income, I would just keep more. Luckily, I finish school and in six months I'll be getting a significant increase in income. Things may change but may not.
