Anyone from the Mesquite Tx area

Last year it looked like my wife and I would be moving in with one daughter in Gulfport Ms area. Now think the kids are actually bidding to see who has to take us in. Other daughter is buying a house in Mesquite, Tx and she is insistent of us moving in with her. Gulfport is ok but not my first choice, Mesquite is more my kind of place, as long as I can find a range or open area to shoot that does not require driving 3 hrs to get there. Anyone that has information please step up. Let Daughter and Grand daughters take care of momma and I will sneak out with my scooter to try getting some Texas Hogs.

There are several indoor and outdoor ranges in and near Mesquite. Mesquite Public range offers outdoor rifle and pistol. Gun Zone in Dallas and Targetmaster in Garland are indoor ranges within 15 minutes of downtown Mesquite.

There are several outdoor ranges in the area also. The two nearest are Gibsons outpost in Sunnyvale, and Garland Public Shooting range in Garland.

The first has pistol and rifle with 200yrd max range. The latter has pistol, rifle, and shotgun with max range of 100 yrds.

There are several more in the Dallas area but I can't speak for them as I have never been to those ranges. Also IIRC Targetmasters has a 50yrd indoor rifle range as well as pistol.

You can do a Google search for ranges in Tx and compare to a map to get an idea of the ranges in the area.

Thanks for the input, looks like it might be easier there than it is here on my own property. Still got to talk myself into moving to Texas or anywhere else for that matter. If wife's health was just a little better I would not even concerned it.

Lived in Mesquite most of my life. What area is she moving to? Pm me if you would like. Gibsons outpost is theoutdoor range with 50, 100. and 200 yd rifle. They usually don't keep a range officer on the line while hot. Only comes out when cease fire is on. I haven't had an issue with them but lots have. I usually go to the garland range which keeps officers on the line always and are strict, but fair. It's much safer, but they won't let you shoot fmj. Also a couple of indoor ranges, one in Mesquite, one just down the hwy in Garland.

My mom was from northeast Ala. and I get back to visit remaining uncle and cousins sometimes (not enough). I like it up there a lot, huge break from the city.
