Last January there was some internet discussion of a ban of russian made ammo that was supposed to become effective at the end of last month (Jan 2018). I have looking for any more information and have not found anything. Since I have not found anything I hope there were was not any ban.

Does anyone here have any additional information. The ban were from sanctions by the US Government for things that the Russian government has done.

I am most interested to know if the steel case wolf 6.5 grendel will continue to enter the country or not. I have not found any of it newly imported and just did manage to get a few hundred rounds from what I believe are older stocks.

Been wondering about Russian ammo here and waiting to see if this thread got any responses. Then I checked the Target Sports USA website; www.targetsportsusa and they still show availability of Wolf brand 7.62x39 along with a couple others. 1000 rd. cases are available but I forgot how many it showed were in stock. I haven't heard anything lately about a proposed ban and I'm not in need of any ammo but I'm gonna continue to keep an eye on things just out of curiosity. P.S...... Went back and rechecked Target Sports USA on 6.5 Grendel and they show 34 cases in stock @ $149.75 for a 500 rd. case but I don't know if that's older stock. E.T.A.. That price includes free shipping.

At some point we're going to have Democrats controlling all three branches. When that happens I think we can all say goodbye to import ammo in general.
Honestly I'm surprised Obama didn't go for it his first term.

They'll try to get rid of gun culture the same way they got rid of tobacco culture. By raising the prices to ridiculous amounts.

Obviously this won't work with guns the way it worked with tobacco, but being able to purchase domestic only ammunition that's taxed considerably more than it is now is going to certainly take the fun out of shooting for a lot of people.

Bigmike79 killing the tobacco industry isn’t a horrible thing, and I come from a state with a huge history of producing it and making cigarettes. That aside. Let’s not speculate on politics. I hope you’re wrong. Or hope the Dems clean house and get some sane folks in leadership to move them back towards the center. Since they’re going full steam left I don’t see it any time soon. With them getting close to majorities in our legislature here in Va and an anti gun Governor and AG we are biting our nails.

So all I can say is we all make an effort to elect candidates who support the Constitution and all of our rights especially the 2nd Amendment and remove those who don’t.

I actually never had a problem with the tobacco industry being killed. I'm just pointing out that eventually they'll go after gun culture the same way they did tobacco, by pricing people out of the market.

I don't think it's a speculation. I think it's a reality. I think it's a reality that my grandchildren will never be able to go to a department store and buy a rifle with ammo in the same fashion you and I currently can. I think the notion of driving out in the woods to shoot it is even dimmer.

Most of the people I work with are in their 20s. As a collective whole, they have a much different viewpoint in regards to firearms than people my age, just like people my age have a much different Viewpoint of firearms than people my parents age.

**** is going to Change in the blink of an eye with all this stuff. Mark my words.

I will disagree with pricing people out of the market on tobacco. Where I'm from, the poorest of the poor still smoke. So if they do go after ammo, guns etc. with excessive taxes, I imagine people like us will find a way to continue to do what we love.

Also, im 28 and find myself in a smaller pool of people of my age with my general line of thinking on firearms.

For a year the D's blew their political capital on health insurance, gov't takeovers of GM, and economic stimulation. By Summer 2010, they were burnt out, Tea party protests were raging, and they were focused on re-election. They ran out of time to do anything on guns and we were 3+ years removed from Virginia Tech, which was done with pistols, not "assault weapons."

I think after Sandy Hook everyone was expecting executive action since Obama got re-elected, but those last 4 years it was discovered the President had no legal authority to do anything. It ended up being on a state level that most regulations happened, mostly CT, NY, and Colorado.

I don't see any reasons to panic until 2020. The Dems can gain seats in Congress, but I don't think much will happen even if they win. Even with Republican turncoats Trump can veto and there won't be enough votes to overturn his veto for anti gun legislation. Also, since '94, every time the Dems go anti gun, they lose.

Trump will win again in 2020, the guy is a Teflon Don.

I do think that one of the tactics that will be used within the next 10 years is some sort of federal tax on firearms and ammo. Republicans love taxes too and they'll back it because they'll run on "common sense" reforms that don't infringe on rights. They're not gonna care if it adds a 10% tax on guns and ammo on top of state sales taxes. All that money is going to go to funding school security programs. Good news for reloaders is it's going to be even more of a cost savings to make your own ammo.

I expect background checks for ammo too on a state level. Massachusetts has had that in the form of the License to xxx with guns/ammo.

Magazine capacities will be capped to 10 and all magazines over that will have to be destroyed. No gov't buyback option, would cost too much. NRA better put up a fight on magazine capacities or else they will lose more members.

Russian ammo may go, but something else will take its place, possibly a better, cheaper alternative. PPU makes good quality, low cost brass ammo and I could see them using aluminum cased ammo with a zinc coating for pistol ammo, something for rifle ammo.

Necessity will create something.
